So does anyone besides Hobby Boss make modern warships at around the same price? Thanks. |

Not really, no – triang minic are probably the only thing vaguely in the same price bracket – on the whole it's a collector-driven market and high prices. |

No, and the metal miniatures of any size are outrageously expensive, but many are very nicely done too. As mentioned, most are sold to collectors, and I would not want to put most of them on the gametable for fear of breakage at $50 USD – $100 USD each, or more. We have a small selection of modern Missile Boats and other fast attack craft for sale (see bottom of the page), in addition to our WWII line of minis: link Hopefully, Hobby Boss and others will continue to expand on the 1/1250th scale plastic offerings, since they are a great scale for naval combat. They also work well as targets for 1/1250th, 1/600th – 1/700th, and even 1/300th scale aircraft. |

After looking at the actual size of an Aircraft Carrier, I think I should stick with 1/2400 scale. |

That probably makes sense, if you want to do fleet actions. For smaller battles though, 1/1200th – 1/1250th is the perfect scale. |

There's a collector / dealer in Gosport, Uk by the name of Dave Willcocks, who trades under the name of Dreadnought Models. He regularly buys in large collections for disposal and so his stock book is often packed with all sorts of bargains. He also offers a 10% discount to Naval Wargames Society members (my discount from Dave usually amply cover my membership each year :) ). Unfortunately I don't have his contact details to hand, but I'm sure they are on the interweb thingie somewhere! |
