What's the current consenus of the dress of the 13th Curassiers in Spain? Windrow and Embleton in "Military Dress of the Peninsular War 1808-1814" have them in brown coats made from locally produced cloth. Is this correct?

As far as I'm aware brown coats with wine facings is correct.

From the references I can find I've got one book says blue, and 3 for brown, so would go with the consensus, especially as it looks neat anyway…. ;-)

for the 13th eme cuirassiers havvana brown jackets were
correct with "lin de vie" facings….ie wine dregs being
the translation…..a kind of plum colour. they returned
home in 1814 waering sandles and having long beards after
the hot and strenous journey back from spain

read " recollections of Colonel de gonvelle" by worley
publications (Colin Worley is the owner and a top bloke!!)
out of print but worth the read.he fought with the regiment
in Spain under Suchet alongside another superb regimet
the 4th eme hussars

best regards
