It may be like comparing a good steak and a bottle of malt but I need some opinions please. I have a Brigade of unpainted Calpe figures bought 4 years ago – fantastic sculpts and great value. I don't argue that they are the #1 choice for budding 28mm Bluchers everywhere. HOWEVER! I am getting old and I wondered if my ressurected project would be better served by the 40mm S&S offerings? S&S produce all the types I need (Eg lack of cavalry choice is not important) and the extra cost of 40mm is not a worry. What I wanted to know is if they are actually any good? Has anyone got any experience with the Prussians? Vorwarts! |

I painted up some 25mm Austrians. Similar to OG but nicer sculpt. Easy painting. Picture attached. Sash and Sabre in front, OG Landwher in back. picture If you want to sell your Calpe's let me know? |

I have been slowly transitioning from 28mm to 40mm, focusing on S&S for the 40mm. I've painted French, Austrian, Russian and Prussian units
all very nice. The choice really depends on the particulars of your project. While my 40mm infantry is based on same sized stands as my 28's the 40mm cavalry and artillery are slightly larger, so I'd need more tablespace to do a big game in 40mm compared to 28mm. For example, I'll be doing Eggmuhl in 28mm at Historicon on an "L" shaped table set, the upright leg being 6x12 and the lower portion being 6x10. Given the large amount of French and allied cavalry 40mm might not be doable in that space. db |

Good is all in a person's taste. I like S&S figures and have them in 28mm for my ACW set up. But I don't like the 40mm ACW. The style of sculpting does not work for me at the larger scale. Now the 40mm ACW were some of the first ones so I had a look at the web site and viewed the 40m NAP figures. Much nicer. Having them painted helps. I don't know what part of the world you live in, but if you are able to see them in person I think it will help you decide. S&S is always at Historicon and they have the figures all there for sale. Take a look at the web site and maybe order a pack of figures. See how they paint up. Only you will be able to decide if they are any good for you. |

Here are some shots of some new Prussians in 30mm scale. link These will be ready very soon. Artillery and cavalry are in the design stages. Some French will also be arriving shortly to oppose these Prussians. We hope you will also like the price! These offerings are from a joint venture between Outland Games and GFI. Thanks for looking! I don't yet have S&S Naps. I have loads of S&S 40mm AWI. I'm very happy with them. The detail is great. |
