Hello Everyone,

I've got a new product review for Kallistra's Hexon II terrain product – it's at World War II Central:

wwiicentral.com

Hopefully this will be useful for anyone looking into the Hexon II range.

I have 2 boxes. They are nice. It's the shipping that KILLS US customers.

I think I'd be willing to buy more if they made some without the individual hexes on each piece.

I think I'll keep them for smaller scale games.

Nice site, by the way. Thanks for the review!

Great site!

Having just had an order from them, I think that (1) the cost of the box delivered is quite acceptable, provided you don't spend time thinking of what the product would cost you if you lived in the UK and (2) you do get excellent courier service for your money. It was the fastest I have ever head anything shipped from the UK.

"It was the fastest I have ever head anything shipped from the UK."

Presumably you've never ordered anything from GZG!!

Very true Lentulus, completely agree. I mentioned the shipping cost in my review because it can be a factor for some.

Regarding shipping speed, you are spot on… To illustrate, I placed an order with GHQ the very same day I ordered from Kallistra. The Kallistra terrain arrived a whole WEEK before the GHQ order; and GHQ and I are both in the US. They were certainly fast.

Into Battle, would just mention that in addition to the stand alone hills, Kallistra also do level one and level two slopes, so that a contour effect can be constructed.

here is a mix of some terrain (10mm army), with a level 2 slope at the back, on the right.

Actually, Mike, I have. And EM4, which also seems to use precognition in order packng. This was simply the fastest.

Yes, I will say Kallistra is among the fastest shippers I've dealt with.

Customs slowed an order WAAAAYYYY down once, but that's not Kallistra's fault.

Norm,

Yep, you are correct! I'll update my review to mention as much… by the way, very nice pictures… I'm assuming that is your website?

Thanks,
Tanner

I have to think about the shipping costs, and to me, they are cost prohibitive. It would be nice if they could get a US distributor and maybe the price would be a little more reasonable for those of us in North America.

79thPA,

Another thing to keep in mind is the exchange rate, when I first started looking at Kallistra the exchange rate was 1:2. I waited a bit and actually purchased when it was closer to 1:1.5 and I saved about $100. USD It's currently about 1:1.6… which is better than it was a year ago.

So, there are always ways in which you can justify the shipping costs :)
