The latest 1815 Perry British have now been advertised. Has anyone seen the new heavy cavalry and light infantry? Or does anyone know a source of pictures of them?

Not seen anything yet – they're not even listed on their site yet, so I was quite surprised by the ad in WI. (Even more so as the codes for the three British heavy dragoon packs are already "taken" as it were, by the new rifles figures….)

Artilleryman28 Jun 2009 5:54 a.m. PST

Ah ha! I hadn't noticed that. I always find it a bit frustrating that the site doesn't keep up with adverts and the pictures of the figures are far behind if they get on the site at all. It's been some time since the Workbench was updated for instance.

I know what you mean I am really most interested in their imminent WotR range. (I wargame Nap in 6mm)

Still, I'd rather they spent time on the models that the pictures on the web site.

What else are the Perries releasing this month besides Nappy Brits ? I hear there's a field ambulance for the ACW as well. Are other ranges being added to ?

The WI ad has the ACW ambulance, a dozen British Napoleonic packs (9 heavy cavalry, 3 light infantry) and 3 packs for the Korean range – armoured infantry with arquebus and bow, and armoured cavalry with rocket launchers, which sounds downright dangerous….

Quintus Icilius28 Jun 2009 5:43 p.m. PST

Thanks Dom.

Exotic and downright dangerous sounds to me like a perfect definition of the C16th Korean army.

The forthcoming plastic French hussars look quite nice too.

Chortle Fezian28 Jun 2009 8:06 p.m. PST

Are these plastic or metal?

BravoX28 Jun 2009 9:23 p.m. PST

"plastic French hussars"
Really? Hadn't heard about that but great news!!

Supercilius Maximus29 Jun 2009 1:49 a.m. PST

What – no new AWI again? (Sigh…..)

Artilleryman29 Jun 2009 3:50 a.m. PST

Gallowglass, where did you see the Perry Plastic French Hussars?

There's a thread on Frothers with pictures:

Very nice indeed, definitely will have to have some of these, though it would be nice to see Perry take a leaf out of Victrix book and make their cavalry box sets with a few dismounted figures.

Artilleryman29 Jun 2009 8:33 a.m. PST

Ah, now I see. And they look great! I wonder if you can have too many hussars?

Supercilius Maximus29 Jun 2009 8:38 a.m. PST

No, but they can't live past 30.

Lord Hill29 Jun 2009 4:14 p.m. PST

What's with the "43rd Foot" (who weren't in the Waterloo campaign). The range is called British and Hanovarian Army 1815, no?

Personal logo Doms Decals Sponsoring Member of TMP29 Jun 2009 4:22 p.m. PST

Indeed, but even though they missed Waterloo, they were definitely in the British army in 1815…. Besides which, I doubt it was a major disruption to the Perrys sculpting schedule, and presumably they thought it'd be neat to do a couple of officers with pelisses, 'cos let's face it, that's the only real reason for doing a special 43rd command pack….

PS – The new packs are on the website now….

Whatisitgood4atwork29 Jun 2009 7:21 p.m. PST

Oh wow. Those hussars are very nice. I was just wondering when the Perrys would do Hussars. This will definitely be the set that gets me into plastics – not for the price, but for the quality.

Now, does anyone know when their French dragoons are appearing?

Personal logo Doms Decals Sponsoring Member of TMP29 Jun 2009 7:30 p.m. PST

They've not said anything about doing dragoons. Victrix do have plans for them, but they're boxes 14 and 15 in their schedule, so we're talking next year.

Whatisitgood4atwork29 Jun 2009 7:56 p.m. PST

Okay. I can wait, especially for quality. But there were an awful lot of dragoon regiments and you can't really do a French army without them. I have recently splurged on Perry Cuirassiers and Line Lancers. I love the varied action poses and am keen to get Hussars and Dragoons in similar poses.

Btw, do you know when the Hussars will be released?

Personal logo Doms Decals Sponsoring Member of TMP30 Jun 2009 2:32 a.m. PST

No – they posted a news item with the photos yesterday, which basically said "no release date yet, they're quite a way off"….

Tommiatkins30 Jun 2009 9:23 p.m. PST

You see! Thats exactly what happens when you wait and wait and cant be bothered waitings no mores and splash out on yet more perry french horse when what you really want is perry brit horse.

They go and release them the very next week.

Right. Bah.
