Not really my theater but don't remember Germans in long white coats

The only similar thing I've seen in photos is a bed-sheet worn like a long cape or smock.
I've never seen white greatcoats, only field grey

Yes, well some might question the concept of "Early German Assault Rifles", too:

(There are some other oddities in their listings, but I will leave the reader to discover them.)

However, we must not question the knowledge of professional painting services. Particularly not their color choices. The Editor doesn't like that.

Artistic lience seems to be the order of the day. I like the basing on this DAK platoon not sure where all the logs and grass come from in the desert but hey it looks nice.

Greatcoats were field grey, but as noted there were lots of white sheets/etc used, at least early in the East

I happen to be painting this winter pzgrenadiers and was just making sure. I am aware of the sheets but those models are wearing the great coats. Anyway, I like the models. Are they FOW models and are they second generation or first. They look much more paintable than the DAK Pzgrenadiers which look rather emaciated.

Allen, does that mean that we are not allowed to mention the red-haired pale skinned Ansar that were on eBay a few years ago?

aecurtis Fezian28 Jun 2009 12:46 p.m. PST

John, that was the Beni O'Leary tribe of the eastern Sudan.

CP, as far as I know, BF has only done them once, as pack GE720. They were released towards the end of what I call the "classic" period, if that's what you mean by second generation--in… 2005? 2006?. See:

As the article shows and describes, some of the figures are wearing parkas or "zeltbarn" (I weep…***) over their greatcoats. The ones with smocks would have the only item that one would want to paint white. Note that the figures don't have helmet covers, either.

***Some guy just recently signed up for the FoW Forum with the nick "Fallschrimjager". It just seems so--right.

Isn't a Zeltbarn where farmers put their Zelts at night to keep them safe?

I thought they had produced some replacement models with bigger heads or something like that.

Yes, in the link they are painted they way I expected them to look like. All is good though.

Oh come on everyone, we are talking about FOW aren't we?

That should explain every thing in those three words.
