Hey All!

I just bought a couple of the Pegasus T-34-85s, and found that when assembling the turret, the gun mantlet just will not fit as molded. I was able to fit it after about 5 minutes of careful, trial and error trimming with an Exacto knife to the mantlet and lower turret piece, so no huge deal, but I was surprised that this was a poor fit.

Has anyone else had this issue?

I assembled a bunch of Pegasus kits this week, the T34, KV1, BT7, BA6, German E25 and the US trucks.

The only trouble I had with the T34 was I stuck the gun in upside down in a test fit, but turned back it over worked very smartly.

The only trouble I had in all the kits was the KV drive sprocket snapping cleanly into place at the rear, but glue works just fine. What I didn't realise was the KV1 kit had both cast and welded turrets in the box for both hulls. Very handy :)

Yes, the KV sprocket has a small notch and post system for placement: it has to be lined up just right.

As for the T-34, no, I tried it both ways, even though the instructions very clearly show which way is "up"--I just thought I'd try it both ways, but neither worked until I trimmed extensively. May be "operator error," or who knows?

:-)

I'll keep this in mind..overall, how are the kits?

Crunchy Frog29 Jun 2009 11:06 p.m. PST

Very good! The detail is excellent for a quick build kit, and there is realistic track sag, which isn't the case for the Amrourfast/HAT models. There's enough little bits to make it look credible without making assembly tedious.

The turret fit issue slowed me down on #1 as I carefully checked and double-checked, then slowly shaved down the parts. ON #2, I just hacked out the offending plastic with my Exacto in about 3 seconds, and kept going: build time: maybe 10 minutes.

They are now primed and I will paint them tomorrow, but I expect fantastic models. The option of an open commander's hatch is a real plus, since the T-34/85 actually had a turret layout that allowed the commander to poke his out in combat. I am ordering another box of two to fill out my Soviet 1944 Tank and Mechanized Corps (1 model+1 bn).

Despite the small glitch, I highly recommend these.

I have put the BT's together and the BA-6's and they proved to be very sweet and quick to put together kits. Going to try the
IS-2's and T-34's this weekend

Crunchy Frog05 Jul 2009 12:00 p.m. PST

Cool! Please let us know if you had the same issue with the T-34 gun mantlet, or if it was OE on my part. :-)

ramsildor06 Jul 2009 11:57 a.m. PST

Put the T-34 together and had no problem. But the real gem is the IS-2 is is really a top notch kit. I put it beside my "quick put together" IS-2 from Revell and it is much better model.

They painted up great

Yes, Pegasus has become a real bright spot in the quick build 1/72 market.

or anyone wanting to model anything eastern front :)

could do with some 'real' german vehicles to fight them though! How about a quick build PzIVH with skirting armour and some Marder tank destroyers! :-)

Great kits I hope they continue to expand the range.

Love the SU152 Pegasus models, I think I assembled 4 of them in less than 40 minutes, had them painted in a couple of hours tops…brilliant.

I wouldn't bother with a kit for PzkwIV i would just buy Forces of Valor toys. The original paint job is awful, but that is why Testors makes spray paint. I repainted mine to a more realistic late war dark yellow and they look great.

I've built several of the Pegasus KV-1S kits; they are simply glorious!evil grin
