I posted the following in the Pfc. forums, hoping that the company's propreitor will at least consider producing some 1/600th scale SAMs for us, since they already do them in 1/285th scale. Feel free to contact them, if you would like to see them produced as well. They can be contacted here: service@pfc-cinc.com -------------------------------------------------------- I would like to see 1/600th scale SAM missiles and radar units produced in this scale, for use with both 1/300th and 1/600th scale aircraft. Many people are now gaming with aircraft in 1/600th scale, and others would prefer smaller targets on the tabletop, to provide a sense of forced perspective, so their jets appear to be flying higher than the missile sites. Anyone else interested in seeing these produced? I imagine they shouldn't be too hard to put into production, given that a number of them are already available from Pfc. in 1/285th scale, so the CAD drawings are already available for many – they just need to be re-scaled. No doubt, hundreds would be sold, since the smaller missile launchers would be less expensive to produce, and could be sold in batteries to match historical deployments. First up, I would like to see the SA-2, SA-3 (two and four missile launchers), SA-6, and trailer mounts for the Rapier and HAWK missiles. Additionally, I would also like to see the SA-4 and SA-5, as well as the Nike Zeus, Nike Hercules, Bloodhound, and Bomarc missiles. Of course, radar units will be needed as well. |

No doubt, hundreds would be sold Admirable optimism
. Probably right for SA-2, very unlikely for anything else would be my guess. Personally I'd be up for SA-2s (although I believe Marcin at OO has committed to do these already), towed Rapier and HAWK, but I really think you're over-estimating demand. |

Unfortunately true, Dom. Still would love to see some available. Gracias, Glenn |

I wish you luck with that. Myself and others have suggested to Pfc(CinC) over the years many times to increase thier 1/4800 naval range to include other navies. With no luck at all. I agree that there is not much demand. Robert My Yahoo 1/600th scale Wargaming Group link

I'd buy at least three batteries of the SA-2's myself, plus at least a couple each of the others. I imagine many others will as well, at least for the SA-2's, SA-3's, SA-6's, and HAWKs. Not sure about the others. The SA-5's would be useful for raids on Libya, Syria, Iran, and the Soviet Union/Russia, among others. Here's a good listing of various Russian SAMs, and the countries that use them (see the links at the bottom of the page), in addition to details on each system: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SA-3_Goa I realize it is a shot in the dark to get them to produce SAMs in another scale, but you never know until you ask, and the CAD work has already been done. They just need to be rescaled. Hopefully, someone will see the light, since I want to do some SEAD missions soon, with my 1/300th and 1/600th jets, and imagine many others may as well. |

Even at 1/600 an SA2 site is a pretty big footprit so it isnt very practical to put a whole site on the table. Ive got a couple sets of JTF600s resin SA2 sites. Playing with the Thud Ridge rules I put either a radar or a missile launcher on the table depending on the circumstances. Al |

I'd buy some SA2's. Very useful. |

The SA-2 launchers are roughly 100 yds apart in real life, if following the Russian manual, which is about 6" apart at 1/600th scale. I see no reason you couldn't compress them a bit, to get the entire site in a 6" diameter footprint, or slightly more. Given that size, it is fairly easy to put 2 – 3 launch sites on the gametable to complicate the attacker's raid, since they would normally overlap their coverage areas in order to present a more substantial threat. Of course, at least one will be a dummy launch site, and the real ones can be moved around on short notice (right after the attackers have chosen their flight route – in writing, but before it is revealed to the defenders), just to make the game a bit more interesting for the attackers. Makes for a slightly more dangerous version of the old "shell game", and complicates pre-game attack route planning on the target, as it should be. For large games, I tend to use folding tables, and a 6' x 10' or 12' table size, since I use 1/300th scale aircraft frequently. Of course you could easily use a 4' x 8, or other size too, depending upon your aircraft scale, needs, and space available. Granted, based upon the rules, and game-scale you are using, that might be a mile, or more, but when running ground attack sorties, I tend not to worry about that, and/or extend the range of the missiles to 1:1 scale, or whatever seems reasonable for the scenario. |

SA's 2 & 6 with radars and associated equipment would be great. Similarly with hawk and Bloodhound. i'd buy a set of those. Hopefully OO will bring out a Roland for use in the Falklands (if not already have..) |

SA-2, SA-6, SA-11 and Hawk would have my interest. |

Scrathbuilt mine after realizing they were nowhere to be found. In that scale it wasnt that difficult and ended costing me about $3 USD in balsa, plastic and such for installations. |
