I'm looking for the best SWAT figures out there. I know the Foundry ones are nice but are there others I may not have seen? Preferably in US type gear.

TAG has some nice ones with a large variety of weapons and equipment.

Eureka has a nice multipart range of SWAT types-you can assemble your own. I have ten and love 'em.

Urban Chaos also has a nice 5-man set: link

I have the urban chaos and they are nice (I am using them as human security forces for my underworld/blade style vampires)

I have to echo my comrade Jason (AKA Hrothgar the Smelly) about the nice TAG swat figs (might pick some up just for the heck of it).

The Foundry ones I picked up second hand are HUGE, 40mm tall. I know people vary in size and the odd giant is great for a hero or gang leader, but five guys towering over everyone else just looks silly. I'm usually quite happy for variations from manufacturers but these are just too big to use.
EDIT: I should say I've looked at the Foundry site and the figures I have are from several packs. It seems that the seller weeded out the big fellas and sold them separately.

Tag for me though the new offensive ones look very nice. Foudnry are OK but as said I think the chap got carried away with the build/height variants

KatieL22 Jun 2009 2:04 a.m. PST

The Foundry ones I have are widely variant in build as well.

Copplestone has a "Hostage Rescue Team" which are (as ever) very good figures; balaclavas, SMGs and shotguns.

I really like the Copplestone set but be aware they're on the small size, ture 25mm rather than heroic 28mm/32mm.

Westwind have some in their Roadkill range, not as nice as Foundry or Copplestone, but they are cheaper.

I like the Copplestone set, size nonwithstanding

I wouldn't say the Copplestone team is small. I painted up seven SWAT teams for a zombie game a while back. One Copplestone, one Foundry, one Tactical Miniatures and four TAG. You can see them here:

The bases are 25mm fender washers (except for the 25mm plastic bases on the TM figs) so you should be able to get a rough idea on the size.
Thanks,
Pat

Thank you all for the comprehensive list of SWAT figs. Its very helpful.

Don't forget Offensive Miniatures.

I haven't tried them yet but some of them look really nice.

Rogzombie, I didn't realize you were looking for a comprehensive list from your original post. If that's the case, let me add RAFM, Tactical Miniatures (Armorcast now), and Wizkids.

Rogzombie Fezian22 Jun 2009 2:40 p.m. PST

Cool, thanks.

Lets not forget Megaminis swat guys. They paint up really well. I was considering Johnnys or the TAG stuff but then I looked at the offensive stuff, its very nice as well.

I've been giving some thought to using my 40k storm troopers, lol, as well.

Lots of good choices, hard decisions.
