Depends on what scale you want – skirmish, Brigade, Division level? |

Fistful of TOW's 2 for smaller level stuff. |

Modern Spearhead, Megablitz for really big ones. We also wrote our own Brigade level rules. WRG 1950-whatever is good enough for tactical stuff. The 1956 British Army Tactical Wargame is interesting for retro WW3 games and includes full consideration of tactical nuclear strikes as they integrate with mechanised combat operations – unsurprising as that is what they were designed to model. |

Do you mean Weird World War 3, kyoteblue? Interesting

Frankly, I find the idea of a World War 3 pretty weird. Lots of regional conflicts, sure, but a single global conflict? I'd us Flames of War – Modern or Force on Force for ground. Not sure about Air or Naval systems. |

Fox Two Reheat or C21 for modern air wars. Shipwreck, or Harpoon for naval. Shipwreck is much faster, while Harpoon is super-detailed. |

"Lots of regional conflicts, sure, but a single global conflict?" We spent an awful lot of time preparing for just that between 1945 and 1989. |

Oh, sure, and when I was in the Navy (2000-2006) we deployed assuming WW3 was going to happen. I just personally find the idea really farfetched right now. The economies of most of the nations in the world are so intertwined anymore that going to war with anyone is like a small child killing their parents: "How ya gonna eat now?" |

"economies .. are so intertwined" You do know what Germany's largest trading partner was in '39. |
