..is June 18th; a terrible day that marked the end of an era.

Vive l'Empereur!

Indeed, I was hoping our newborn would have been another 4 days after she was then she would have born on this memorable day. Still Marengo is no bad name for a girl….

Well, I for one will be in the pub tonight, where the main toast will of course be "Death To The French !"

The irony that half of those present will be making the toast with 'French' lager will not be lost.

Footslogger, rest assured I shall be in that crowd as well.

I'm actually covering Britain's role in the Napoleonic Wars in class today. Wish I could say that I had timed it to come out this way.

Perhaps FIFA could schedule an international 'friendly' match somewhere close by that day pitting France vs. England? That would be very cool.

Winner gets the bragging rights for the next 200 years!

Or perhaps an English-Dutch-German squad vs. the French.

danikine7418 Jun 2009 6:00 a.m. PST

france squad will probably beat the English-duch-german squad, but they can play again and again and again until british victory and then stop the matches, GB will be the victorious!!!
