Lady Emma Cuddleston-Smythe and Der Alte Fritz staged another Teddy Bear wargame with Eureka figures over the weekend. Click on the link to read the report of Lady Emma's great victory over DAF and then click on the pix to enlarge the view:

Rules were made up on the fly, and a great time was had by daughter and Dad.

DAF…I've always loved your Teddy Bear battle reports…it's made me actually want to buy some of those figs…

It looks like you've earned the gold medal for being a good dad judging by the smiles on her face.
When she's a teenager she might roll her eyes at this wargaming nonsense, but when she is older and past the "angsty teen stage", she'll remember just how "Really cool" it was…

You've done good man…hats off to you!

Looks like fun as usual. I hope the victor shared the cookies anyway…

(I want some of those Teddy Bears and my daughters are 18 and 20…)

For the life of me I cannot figure out if you are just slow, or a terrible wargamer. That girl looks like she is 10 years old, and you can't beat her? Pathetic.

;)

On an aside, I actually love the look of gaming on a wooden table.

Awesome Game Alte Fritz!!
Love the figures, I passed your blog along to those of our group who have daughters. I'd buy some myself, but alas, no children.

Very nice…… but if you call cookies biscuits what do you call biscuits?

Children's luck with the dice is legendary. You were unwise, though, to divide your force against a concentrated opponent. Or was that a deliberate attempt to rig the outcome?

You were also unwise to make it winner-take-all. Even if you won, you know you would have shared a few with the loser.

Very Nice; a salute to the good lady on another famous victory.

Every time I try to win, she just bats her eyelashes at me and I melt into a puddle of gelatin and forget how to be a general. She also has incredibly fine dice rolling skills.

Ah, the old charm. Don't fall for it; she is just waiting for you to die so she can take over your estate… and ownership of BOTH bear armies.

I can't help but agree with General Ck1st or however you say it above… poor logic on your part, comparing the adult-to-child expected share ratio to the child-to-adult expected share ratio. Even if you had been the "winner" methinks you would have given up 2/3s of the "biscuits," regardless of the sacrifice of your brave blue bear army.

I do love those teddy bears though. Who makes them? Any suitable poses for conversion? Would love to do a bear army for fun and then maybe sell it to someone with kiddos. Heck, maybe for my own?

Very inspiring, and a good stimulus for me to get to work finishing off "the little prince's" Grenadiers – they are the Eureka Teddy Bears in bearskins, done in his favourite colours (orange and blue) – I am about halfway there, will send a photo as soon as it is done

Great stuff, as always

By the by, I have the same experience – I have a tough time winning against my kids, whether it's the five year old, the teenager or the twenty-four year old – in the case of the twenty-four year old, I beat him handily a year ago but he has been handing me my head ever since – at our last battle (about three months ago) I thought I had him, but a small heavy infantry unit managed to hang on and disorder three big units of medium infantry, which left me in bad shape when his vengeful units arrived on my flank

C'est la guerre!

Very nice, and a very good example of "inspired fathership".

By the way, last month I played with my 10 y.o son at Napoleon Last Battles (the computer HexWar version). He won at Quatre Bras, badly mauled the Prussians at Ligny and routed the Anglo-Allied at Waterloo, killing in the process the Duke himself. This is because I relaxed a little, from the highness of my nearly thirty years experience in that boardgame….

"melt into a puddle of Gelatin"

You used to give that same excuse when you were gaming down here in the Big Bleepin Loft!! Nice hats, really nice hats!

You should STILL do a book with this!! ( I want a cut for suggesting it too)
