Hi folks,

Posted some photos of this battle.

Please excuse that my figures are not all flocked. I'm in the final stages of the figure painting and flocking portion of this collection.

Let me know what you think.

Hey Eric!

Great job…per usual. You pick the unusual wars a lot like me.

Thanks folks! I wish I had time to put in a better battle report, but life just gets in the way.

Currently painting some Russian Jaeger units for this week's game. We have DAY2 of the assault this Wednesday.

I'll definitely take some more photos.

Who makes the Russians with the snazzy helmets? Some of the Ottoman artillerymen looked to be Essex?

DinOfBattle214 Jun 2009 8:09 p.m. PST

Hi Mike,

Russians are from Falcon UK and are the only company that I know of that makes these figures in ANY scale.

Finished a unit of Russian Jaegers tonight and they are GREAT looking. They will be used on Wednesday night. I have one more Jaeger unit and 2 more Grenadier units to paint then I'm done with ALL the Russian regulars.

Ottomans, are a mix of AB Miniatures, Essex, Minifigs, Falcon UK, etc. Can't wait to get the rest of them painted. Not sure if I can do them or not.

I just ordered Cossacks to finish out my Russian army from ERM. They have some of the coolest looking cossacks. Should have six cavalry and two foot Cossack units when I'm done.

My entire Russian army should be the following:
4 Grenadier units
2 Jaeger units
12 Line units
2 Cossack foot
5+ Gun batteries
1 Cuirassier
3 Carabinier
1 Cheveu-Leger
6 Cossacks cavalry

I look forward to great wargaming with this collection!

When ready show us a parade of your troops. As said I like them

DinOfBattle215 Jun 2009 11:08 a.m. PST

Can do! I've started taking Photo Catalogs of my armies once I have completed them.

1. It looks cool.
2. I can use it for insurance purposes.

Very nice!!! I have not gamed the period since 1993! Good to see somebody does it!

DinOfBattle215 Jun 2009 6:58 p.m. PST

Hi Sergeis,

Well, you and I may be the only ones!

Eric

It is a very cool period- Russian and Austrian modern armies vs very sizable but a bit backwards Turks- with all sorts of colorful auxiliaries.

Swampking17 Jun 2009 7:49 a.m. PST

Eric,

Seen you've improved your painting of the Ottomans! Your Guard Janisarries are really cool looking! Would you like some standards for your Russians? Email me if you do.

Add me to the list of gaming this period as well – though I have yet to paint all the Russians or Ottomans – I'm currently finishing up a few Swedish 1788 units and working on the Russians Life Grenadiers as well.

How about the old file? The attack on the Ottoman fortress? Is that still on the site?

Thanks for the pics!

sergeis17 Jun 2009 6:22 p.m. PST

@ Swampking- I have sent you a lengthy email on the subject you asked me about- I hope that helps!

@Sergei, just sent you an email question about Russian Potemkin Uniforms. Hope you can shed some light in that area for me.

@Swampking

Thanks for the compliments. Love to see your Swedes! This is really an interesting period to game.

I would love standards for my Russians! Can you email them to EBurgess@Carolina.rr.com?

The old Russian Assault photos are of poor quality compared to the recent photos. I do have all of them and I can send them to you if you like. I'm not going to get them up on the Charlotte Garrison Site anytime soon.
