We fought a great battle tonight with the Ottomans finally repulsing the full scale Russian assault.

The Russians were able to clear the hasty works, and the forward redoubt, plus about four regiments breached the main defenses only to be smashed by the timely arrival of the Janissaries! The Russian left flank was stabilized by the Cossacks driving off the hordes of Ottoman horse, much to the dismay of the Ottoman cavalry commander (me).

It was a great fight!!! (photos available)

Although the day belonged to the Ottomans the siege continues and the Russians will launch another assault next week against the main defenses. This will be a purely an infantry assault supported by many Russian gun batteries.

The Ottomans know that time is short, but can they repulse another attack?

We shall see…

Hey Eric. My interest in the Russo-Turkish War is about a 100 years later in 1877. I am curious as to what rules you are using.

Thanks,

John

Post the photos somewhere Eric. I'm interested to see your forces :)

John,

I'm using Piquet of course. :-) No other way we would have had the thrilling game we had last night without Piquet!

Chortle, I'll try to upload some photos to the Charlotte Garrison website I have. I will put them in the Gallery, when I get a chance. Hopefully this weekend.

I sorta figured that. Wasn't sure if it was Field of Battle or Piquet, though. ;-D

Thanks,

John

Oh, we don't play FoB. We had some bad experiences with it. FoB seems very popular though.
