Hi, I'm painting up a voltigeur Officer for 1809 and was wondering if anyone knows what colour the shako cords would be. It's for the 3rd line regiment. I'd be guessing gold but possibly green? Thanks |

According to Haythornthwaite in Osprey's 'Napoleon's Line Infantry', officers wearing the 1806-style shako would have had gold lace and cords. A 3rd Line's voltigeur is illustrated in the same Osprey – Men at Arms 141 from 1983 – as having green cords and green over yellow plume. Hope that helps |

I am not entirely sure although I would suspect gold cording. If you are painting a Voltigeur officer from the 3eme, you might check this website link Send a note to Eric Gram using the contact us page. He likely has the answer. Rob |

Officers of voltigeurs in ligne bns wore the gold cords and trim of a ligne officer. His plume would be the mark of a voltigeur though some elite coy shakos were also a bit bigger in the 1809 period. (Not that it is noticeable at 28 mm.) Grenadier officers not in bearskins were the same with a (basically) red plume |
