"Fraid not, 28mm seems to be the scale of choice, some are using 15 & 20mm but this is probably the best place to ask link Rob |

What are the best 28mm to use for the period? |

Yes – most of us are into 28mm but there are a reasonable number going for 20mm. Don't know of anyone doing anything smaller, I'm afraid. |

The advantage of 20mm is that you can take advantage of the huge ranges of buildings produced for 00 model railways. I suspect that 10/12 would probably work too since there are equivalent (even if not quite so comprehensive) ranges of buildings for N model railways. |

Jony663, There's a few specific 28mm packs done by Musketeer link But you can use Victorian, WW1, Irish War of Independence, Spanish Civil War, Pulp and WW2 figures. Have a look at the Gentleman's Wargames Parlour for inspiration. Rob |

Thank you Rob, just found it yesterday. Those miniatures look great. Right now I am waiting on the source book to arrive. I think my SCW figures will get some use. Now I need to look for bobbies. Jon |

There's some excellent figs in these ranges. I used to fight these sort of battles as a teenager in the 70's except it was a war between Lincolnshire (where I lived) and Yorkshire -mainly using Airfix of course. (I liked troops in berets/flat caps/Adrian helmets with blanket rolls and F17 tanks -needless to say I was well pleased when I discovered the SCW!) Another possible enemy for these guys to fight? THE DALEKS!!!!! |

Some pics of our stuff here, mostly Muskateer, though some Artizan, Bolt Action, Foundry and Scale Creep. There is loads of 28mm stuff that is around for this that can used with minor conversions. link link |

Yes Smokie. I have an inkling to do it in N guage/1:144. Shed loads of 1930s railway models available and a few manufacturers of military models in the same scale. |

Sorry to resurrect this thread Due to having a goodly amount of old Wild Geese 10mm Spanish civil war figures between us, a group I play with are talking about doing it in 10mm/N Scale With The Square rescuing the old Wild geese 10mm SCW range (the vehicles are good, some nice improvised armoured cars/trucks, the rest of the range is showing its age) Pendraken having a good SCW range, plus a WW1 and 1940 WW2 range for the British Army worth pillaging. Pithead have a 1940 BEF set that would fit right in. Magister Militum have a developing early WW1 range. What is missing still is Carden Lloyds, early Vickers lights, Crossleys/Lanchester 3 axel armoured cars and the Vickers Mediums. Though all the "saw service" WW1 kit and France 1940 kit are there. with the possible exception of the medium mk Ds that saw service in the early 20s (just missed the war but did serve with interventionist forces in Russia) Some of the Franco/Prussian war cavalry and Boer War figures with pith helmets are suitable for paint conversuion to armed police. The Boers suit the more irregular forces as well. Maybe asking one of the manufacturers to look as the feasability of some of the 1940 anti invasion developments (beverettes, bison, armoured tractors) would help plug one fo the few holes. |
