just curious to see if you could only do one period which would it be? For myself it would be the Punic Wars. Its been a favourite for years and were the first two 6mm armies I built.Am also toying with getting some 10mm stuff done too for WAB.I use DBM for my 6mm. |
Der Alte Fritz | 03 Jun 2009 11:25 a.m. PST |
Seven Years War for obvious reason germane to me. |
Wargamer43210 | 03 Jun 2009 11:25 a.m. PST |
Seven Years War. There's just something about the fancy dress and Frederick the underdog holding it together. |
ArchiducCharles | 03 Jun 2009 11:25 a.m. PST |
Easy, that's almost what I already do! Napoleonics, 28mm. Hands down. Charles, Napoleon, fancy uniforms, colours, huge battles, etc. Clash of Empires : link |
nycjadie | 03 Jun 2009 11:27 a.m. PST |
Only 1? Something with interesting troops and in a large scale so I can spend lots of time painting. Maybe Punic Wars in 54mm. |
Silurian | 03 Jun 2009 11:30 a.m. PST |
It would have to be WWII in 1/72 (20mm). My first and enduring love! |
Rodrick Campbell | 03 Jun 2009 12:02 p.m. PST |
I like most periods a lot, but I'd have to go with WWII. 15mm so I could have decent skirmish and mass battles. |
Plynkes | 03 Jun 2009 12:14 p.m. PST |
I assume you mean geological periods, so I would have to say the one we're in now, which I believe is the Neogene or the Quaternary, depending on which geologist you ask, I gather. That covers everything, no need for any fuss, tears or bother regarding chucking out any of my figures. Well, except my dinosaurs, but I can live without them. |

Is it cheating to simply pick naval |
Jovian1 | 03 Jun 2009 12:18 p.m. PST |
Define period. Then I'll play. |
richarDISNEY | 03 Jun 2009 12:46 p.m. PST |
Weird War 2 in 28mm |
Wolverine | 03 Jun 2009 12:52 p.m. PST |
I only do one anyway. ACW in 25mm. |

Is it permissible to say "French"? |

We've been having fun with the Russian Civil War, so I'd go with that. Maybe expand it to WWI if that includes RCW. |

I basically do ancients. Does that count as one period? |
abelp01 | 03 Jun 2009 2:43 p.m. PST |
Napoleonics and I don't care what scale/size!! |
evilcartoonist | 03 Jun 2009 3:00 p.m. PST |
Pulp should cover prehistoric (Lost Worlds) to Back of Beyond to gangsters and all the way up to Scifi (Flash Gordon.) Though, I guess pulp is more a genre than a period. If it has to be a period, then I choose prehistoric. |
shelldrake | 03 Jun 2009 3:12 p.m. PST |
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I cant do it! |
nazrat | 03 Jun 2009 3:33 p.m. PST |
Since I have individual 15 and 28mm models for World War II skirmish, plus four armies based for PBI and two for FoW, I have no problem in choosing that period as my one and only. If I ABSOLUTELY had to, that is. |
Militia Pete | 03 Jun 2009 4:19 p.m. PST |
French and Indian War which would be Seven Years War. Yep, that would cover it. |
John the OFM | 03 Jun 2009 4:55 p.m. PST |

Hmm I could pick 40K. Since GW is always changing it's fluff & figures I won't run out of new stuff to paint. But how could I stop buying Pulp figures from Bob Murch? Or Artizan? Or Copplestone? It would be too stressful to contemplate. Can't do it. |
The Nigerian Lead Minister | 03 Jun 2009 9:20 p.m. PST |
Can't do it. I could narrow it down to three, but less than that lies madness. And once I got down to three I'd see something shiny

My interests are far to diverse to pick just one. |
Andy Badger | 04 Jun 2009 2:55 a.m. PST |
John the OFM,it's nothing like asking who your favourite child is,I think you need to lighten up.I was just curious what people would choose if they could only do one period. If you dont want to answer thats fine but its a bit strange to post on a topic your not interested in participating in just to say you dont want to participate. But then again you do seem to pop up on every board even if you have nothing to contribute. |
Andy Badger | 04 Jun 2009 2:58 a.m. PST |
It is very hard to choose just one thats for sure. For about 3 years I only did napoleonics but then saw the light (joke before anyone jumps on me!)and sold it all off.Now I've got stuff for everything from ancients to sci-fi!!! |

John the OFM | 04 Jun 2009 4:57 a.m. PST |
,I think you need to lighten up. No, I think YOU need to lighten up. You, sir, are immune to irony. You actually expected a serious answer? On TMP? Go herd cats. Why didn;t you go postal on the guys who accused you of heresy for even bringign up the topic? OK, here is the ONE period I would play: American Revolutionary World Great War II Colonial GASLIGHT French and Indian Fantasy. With air. |
Goldwyrm | 04 Jun 2009 6:18 a.m. PST |
Sci-fi, as it allows for a larger proportion of my collection. Also, if I do Star Trek or Dr. Who going back in time or to alternative realities, it opens up all the other genres. ;) |
Andy Badger | 04 Jun 2009 7:07 a.m. PST |
John the OFM no I'm not immune to irony but I am used to it having some humour (a lot of the other posts made me smile).Actually I do get a lot of serious answers to certain queries I've made on TMP and a lot of interesting thoughts and comments on different subjects.Although neither seem to emminate from you.I get the impression your sole purpose here is to raise your message count and/or see your own name on the screen all the time. And,as others have pointed out, moan pointlessly about nothing. |
TodCreasey | 04 Jun 2009 8:42 a.m. PST |
I guess WWII in the end but I would sure miss Napoleonics and the Crusades. |
RABeery | 04 Jun 2009 9:19 a.m. PST |
Late medieval in 28mm. Gendarmes, artillery, and castles. |
Daffy Doug | 04 Jun 2009 10:01 a.m. PST |
Is this a trick question? |
John the OFM | 05 Jun 2009 6:17 a.m. PST |
Well Badger
I am not going anywhere, and I will comment where and when I please. Your analysis of my motives in posting is off, but it amuses me. |

Yeah, this poll would need about one zillion options. Viable answers I could give, off the top of my head: Weird War 2 Post-apocalypse gangs Superheroes Fantasy dungeoncrawls Cyberpunk Horror Pulp Scifi |
Diogenes | 18 Jun 2009 9:59 p.m. PST |
War or the Spanish Succession for me. But if I was to work period naming to my advantage I would say "pike and shot", that way I could go all the way from the late rennaissance to the WSS! |
