Yesterday while at the local hobby store, I checked out the large Polly Scale paint selection. I've been looking for a decent Union blue pant color other than Howard Hues, so I don't have to mail order one bottle of paint. Anyway, I came across British P.R.U. Blue. Seems close enough. Do any of you guys use this color?

I must admit I have not, but it does have that "greenish tinge" to it that you read about when Union vets talk about how their pants weathered

Looks good to me.. hard to tell of course, but seems a close
match to the sample piece of kersey I have (from a re-enactor friend)

If the color is close to the way it appears on my monitor, I'd sure give it a try.

I have used PRU Blue for pants (28mm East India Company and British Regiments) and it worked very well.

It is more grey than some blues I've seen used on Union pants, but its a nice, serviceable blue-gray that has that 'used' look to it.

It looks pretty good. Remember that some paints dry darker or lighter. You can always mix other colors to get it closer to the shade you want. It's the only way to get the color that you really want. I have always had to mix my union pant color. No one ever got it right.

Tomorrow I will pick up a bottle and try it out on some 15s. I'll try to take some photos for my blog. Better than Sky Blue IMO!

Tried the paint today and like it. It really makes the figures look different from Sky Blue and other blues.
