Basically it. I would like to run one using Star Wars miniatures some time and am wondering if anyone has done anything similar or has any ideas. I am thinking of using Bounty Hunters and Fringers for the seven and possibly a bunch of Black Sun etc. thugs for the bandits since they are what I have the most of (apart from Republic forces). Thanks ALV |

At the risk of sounding overly geeky, the first Marvel Star Wars comic post-"A New Hope" actually dealt with that scenario. It was issue number 7 through 11, I think. Given that "Magnificent Seven" was lifted from "Seven Samurai" there's no real harm in running such a scenario. Let us know how it goes! Wyatt |

Ok, I'm not far off. It was issue 8 through 11. link There are some interesting bits of trivia in there – especially about the main villain – that I didn't know. One of the characters is a 6-foot tall green rabbit so it can't be all bad. Wyatt |

It's a perfect idea. Star Wars is a sci-fi-samurai-western anyway. I'd throw in a disgraced jedi as one of the seven. |

---Robert Vaughn?---- Gelt Battle Beyond the Stars |
Mr Brightside | 18 May 2009 8:50 p.m. PST |
Interesting about the SW comics. Will have to give Robert Vaughn's miniature some thought. Whatever it is it should probably be human. The Calo Nord fig might work. Boba Fett should definitely be a part of the Seven. He might be Yul Brynner's character. Dengar could be Charle's Bronson's representative. Thanks for the input. I should probably see Battle Beyond the Stars and Seven Samuraii first. I will post a battle report with the results. ALV |

I think Richard Thomas mole is actually bigger in this movie. According to IMDB the whole movie is on You Tube |

That comic looks so familiar. I think I had it at one time. How can you forget the green bunny guy? |

Yup Wyatt
Sounding geeky. Granted, I thought of the same series, but I thought it was in the teens

Yep
since Star Wars was inspired by the Akira Kurosawa movie "Hidden Fortress" it seems only proper that his classic "Seven Samurai" is mined for a related scenario. |
Mr Brightside | 19 May 2009 8:08 p.m. PST |
Thanks for the YouTube. I think I remember hearing about hidden fortress. Was it the one with the princess and the two bumbling peasants who witness her adventures? |
Hexxenhammer | 19 May 2009 8:53 p.m. PST |
That's it. Bumbling peasants who become droids in Star Wars. |

"Boba Fett should definitely be a part of the Seven. He might be Yul Brynner's character." Really? Really really? A can see a bit of Boba worship
but if you are interested in the Seven
he isn't a jedi
no new news here I know. And he is nothing like the Yul character
Yul played his role like a Vulcan almost, too cool for school and very little emotion. But it is your game, just a thought. A calm, thinking, less talk kind of guy would be a better fit. |
Parzival | 21 May 2009 8:42 a.m. PST |
I think I used to have that comic, back in the day. Long gone now, I'm sure. |
Sargonarhes | 21 May 2009 9:50 a.m. PST |
A Boba Fett or some other bounty hunter, because one of the 7 is likely to be a smuggler. I don't know if it that was Steve McQueens character, but I remember George Pepard's role in that Battle Beyond the Stars movie. Then you have James Colburn who was good with knives. And a wanna-be Jedi in the mix for some comedy relief, in the original 7 Samurai there was a guy that wanted to be a samurai. He carried a large sword and was very mouthy. The anime Samurai 7 had him as a big cyborg that was always making comments like "Oh boy, here come the bandits for their a@$ beating." |
Mr Brightside | 21 May 2009 8:15 p.m. PST |
Thanks for the suggestions. You are right 28mmMan, there is a lot of Boba Fett worship in there. On rethinking it he would be better placed as Robert Vaughn's character, a ruthless bounty hunter who is afraid of being beaten. The KOTOR character Zayne Carrick is perfect for the upstart. I have a Correllian (didn't spell that quite right) pirate that is good for Steve McQueen. I say that Dengar is good for Bronson's characters since both are hard as nails gunmen but have a softer side. Coburn will need some thought. One question should all the 7 be human's? They are at present. Thanks, ALV |
Sargonarhes | 22 May 2009 9:06 a.m. PST |
I don't see what harm a non human would be. It had just occurred to me in the original and anime version the wanna-be samurai was always a big guy. I can't remember who that character was in the Magnificent Seven, so it's rather cliche for Star Wars but what's wrong with Wookie that wants to be a Jedi? Or find some other large non human. |
Mr Brightside | 22 May 2009 9:42 p.m. PST |
A wookie might work. The wannabe in the 7 was Chico the young gunfighter who came from a farm village. He is the one who falls in love and settles down in the end. |
