Hi all,

I've just dug out my collection of Bundeswehr put together in the late 80s to early 90s. Included was a pack of infantry M09 German Heavy Weapons.

Can anyone tell me what the weapons on the sprues are supposed to represent. I know there is a mortar though I don't know what size it is supposed to be. Plus what are the other weapons and what size crews they have.

I dimly recall a few Milan MRATGW teams….

I don't think the Milan was on the M09 sprues as they were released as a seperate pack with a number of prone figures. Each having 1 actually firing the missile and 1 loader I guess. (These are actually very poor castings in my opinion)

On the M09 sprues I have the following
Sprue 1 3 standing troops followed by a mortar of some type (I presume the 3 standing are the mortars crew), then comes a kneeling troops followed by a tripod mounted MG with gunner (I believe the first kneeling figure is this guns loader). Finally a kneeling figure with what looks like a sholder launched RPG.

Sprue 2 has two standing figures, 1 appears to be looking through binoculars the next waving or pointing at something. Then two kneeling figures and a large tripod mounted weapon with another kneeling figure (again I assume all the kneeling figures are the crew for this weapon) I'm not sure but this could be a Rheinmetal 20mm in its dismounted form. Finally a standing figure firing what looks like a very light shoulder launched SA missile.

Perhaps the description will trigger peoples memories about what the weapons actually are.

Sprue 1 120mm mortar bit of a botch to represent either of two main models used by the Bundswher. MG 3 on sustained fire mount. MG 42 rechambered for 7.62 NATO. Armburst LAW

Sprue 2 TOW on ground mount and a generic MANPAD which can be used as either Stinger or Redeye

Thanks very much for that.

Hi,

a friend has this set and if I remember right it is not the Armbrust LAW (this one was never fielded by the Bundeswehr as far s I know) but the Panzerfaust 44 (Pzf 44) Lanze (also called leichte Panzerfaust). This one served well into the 90s, maybe some are still there – last time I saw one was during my service 97/98.

On the other hand I might got it wrong and they added something the BW never had…
I never saw the TOW used by the BW with its ground mount but they had those…

Cheers Ben
