Today has been Camerone Day, a holiday of sorts at Aubagne, France, where the Foreign Legion is based (also it Camerone, in Mexico, I understand). Has anyone gamed Camerone, either the original historical version, or perhaps a transplanted version, like Space Marines versus Orcs? Care to share how it went? Did you do better or worse than Captain Danjou? Grelber |

I did that solo once. Tried to keep it historical in numbers. FFL had superior fighters in a defensive position, but they were overrun/killed to last man by the last wave. Can't recall all right now, but it was fun to research and use a few special rules. COULD be a con game, with some players with a few FFL each and others with LOTS of Mexicans each. If a morale break point for the Mexicans, not quite so cut and dry an outcome is as inevitable as say the Alamo. |

There ya go: link "The Wooden hand of Captain Danjou", with rules and a battle report. I would say that the list of particpants in the battle is incorrect. I later came up with a better OB for the French, based on actual, more complete lists of those present. Not that I still have it, mind you. |

We once had a Camerone Day extravaganza in which we gamed a large prototype/playtest Dien Bien Phu boardgame. The FFL had a prominant role in the defense of that hell hole. |
