Anyone make figures that can be used for GI Joe /Cobra in 28mm? |

Reaper has a not-Snake Eyes in the Chronoscope line: link |

The Joes are easy to find with a little looking, they aren't anything special, and most are military based. The Cobra troops on the otherhand, well there are none. I made my own Vipers, Troopers, and Alley Vipers with heroclix conversions and repaints. |

You could try pig iron troopers with full face helmets for Vipers? link link If you're feeling ambitious Hasslefree has some nice modern weapons sprues too, how about these? link |
Jakar Nilson | 01 May 2009 10:57 a.m. PST |
There have been some Red Shadow troopers that people converted from WWII Germans. |

I'm seriously thinking of doing this soon. Good call on the Pig Iron heads EG, also Hasslefree has several figs that would work for GI Joe characters. What may be tough is a Cobra Commander, Destro and Baroness. You can find Ninjas pretty easily. The vehicles would be tough as well, though some of the Old Crow SF range could work with some minor mods. |

Speaking of Hasslefree, how's this for a Baroness? Add a couple of SMGs and some round glasses

Serpentor!!!! picture picture He is the Kobra Heroclix figure with no modification. |
Mad Dog | 02 May 2009 9:29 p.m. PST |
Dionne would be a better starting off point for the Baroness, just add glasses: link |

I recall someone painted a bunch of Void 1.1 minis to resemble Cobra soldiers. He had mods for Baroness (made from Neura), Destro, and a host of Cobra troopers made from Syntha Marines and Prosthene Marines. I kept saying, despite the fact I abhore randomly packed pre-painted minis, that Hasbro should have done a GI Joe miniatures game similar to Star Wars Miniatures. Use the same rule mechanics and make 28mm GI Joes and Cobras and all the other characters. They could even release vehicles like the Star Wars ones, perhaps even a HISS Tank. Hasbro wouldn't have to worry about licensing fees like for Star Wars as they already own the GI Joe title. However, everytime I've brought it up I was told that Hasbro dropped the idea because the GI Joe CCG was a dismal failure that indicated there was no interest in a GI Joe themed game. |

Theres a link over on Frothers to a guys site where he has made Red Guard from modding old WW2 Germans – re-diong the helmet and facemask, and adding modern weapons, there's also a link to the how to. |

CC is easy to do with a little green stuff if you want the hooded version. Here's an old and not so great photo of some of mine. picture |

You know, this is getting to be a better and BETTER time to play mini-Joe: Beside stuff already mentioned (DS6151, I compleatly agree, esp. if you're thinking of most first and second gen. Joe). That said: Snake-Eyes: picture Torpedeo/Wet Suit/Eels
: picture Wild Bill: picture And so on
Oh, female soldiers could be covered by Shadowforge's Sci-fi line of 'Marine Spec. Ops.' and I've almost always thought the ol' school Cobra troops could be converted out of WWII Germans (heck, last DDP comic even had an Cobra Officer in a LONGCOAT
:0 I KNEW IT
) |

Awww
Smith beat me to not-Snakes
oh well:) Oh forgot one: I saw a guy convert a bunch of Joes out of GW 40K figs. He did an awesome job, except for Scarlett (she looked cool and all, but didn't have her crossbow

I've been toying around with the idea of sculpting some figures that "could be" either Cobra or GI Joe figures if painted as such, but otherwise could be generic baddies or good guys for any modern near future game. Headed off to see the new GI Joe movie in a few minutes. If I did do them they would be more akin to the 80's cartoon version of my childhood. Check out my blog
I may have something posted out there in the coming weeks. jcfigures.blogspot.com |

For Scarlet, Heroclix has a girl holding 2 crossbows pistols. The only problem is the cape. So you could either cut off the cape or the crossbow pistols. auction For Baroness, Heroscape has a suitable figure with glasses. auction |

Not sure if anyone is still checking this topic since it is a few years old, but I am currently making, my own gi joe vehicles in 28mm. I am currently building them, and then I will resin cast them. I currently have a vamp, hiss, apc, slugger, snow cat, and cobra night landing raft. I am close to being able to cast 3 or 4 of them, and then I plan to continue creating more of them. I got tired of waiting for hasbro to make them, so I used my so-so modeling skills to make my own. If anyone would like to see pictures, let me know. |

Lowlight, I'm interested in seeing them. I've been working on my own Cobra army for a while and starting to get things going. Always excited to see what others are working on. |

I now have a Conquest X-30 master almost finished, a Mobile Command Center master about 75% complete, and a MOBAT master about 90% complete. I will start a photoki site with pictures this weekend if I get a chance. |

Some more figures from the Chronoscope line, some of which will require some conversion: Duke: link Zarana: link Recondo: link Cobra Trooper: link Deep Six: link Ace: link Storm Shadow: link |

TKD I like your suggestions
I may have to pick those up. I have started a photobucket page to show progress photos of my masters for GI Joe and Cobra vehicles. My username is Theishman. Photos of my Mobile Command Center, Conquest X-30, and Mauler MBT are up for viewing. I will post more as I get time. |

I had to do a few conversions myself, especially for Destro, and I still had to be happy with the variant look with the golden mask. I'm trying to find the original miniatures I used to make my Joe/Cobra figures, but they may be out of production by now. |
tkdguy | 19 Jun 2013 8:26 p.m. PST |
I just found an image of the figure I used for Destro: link I used the Hawkwood noble. Then I just filed off the hair and painted the head gold. Most of the outfit was painted black, except for the cape, which I painted red. |
rodgeydodge | 20 Jun 2013 7:36 a.m. PST |
Miniature GI Joe's were released with the regular sized action figures back in the day. The are a little taller than 28mm. Maybe around 33mm. Slender. I have three including Destro. He's quite a bit stockier than the other two and though half crouched about the same height. I guess what I'm saying is the scale is a bit inconsistent. |
tkdguy | 20 Jun 2013 8:44 p.m. PST |
Interesting. I never knew they released miniatures of the Joes and Cobras. On a related note, I'm thinking of buying some of these miniatures and running a Pulp-era version of GI Joe vs. COBRA. |
rodgeydodge | 21 Jun 2013 9:20 p.m. PST |
There's many on ebay right now under the keyword 'micro'. Scroll past the super deformed 'squaddies' Most were produced 1988/89. Going for about $10 USD each. |
tkdguy | 21 Jun 2013 10:38 p.m. PST |
Thanks for the tip. Although I just typed in "micro" without "GI Joe" and saw a lot of ladies in micro bikinis! Not that I mind, of course. |
