Someone here pointed out Stephen Turnbull had a new book coming out this fall--he now has at least three new books coming between now and Janaury including an Osprey Elite on hatamoto foot and horse guards, and a campaign book on the Mongol invasions.Take a look at Amazon. |

Hm, the Mongol one should be interesting. I've been using Takashima Island for my artifact analysis class. |

Say what you will. Turnbull has done us all a great service by providing readable history, and outstnding pictures and drawings. I have used his books many times when trying to figure out colors and patterns for armor when painting figures. But as before I'll wait until these books are put in to a grouping of four in one hard back like some of his other books. |

I may kid him but I own every Asian related book hes ever written (and will continue to!). |

And at last count I have nine, but two of those are composites of four each. So that would make it like thirteen that I have. But I am looking forward to a Mongol compilation book if it ever happens. (Mr. Turnbull are you listening.) |

Actually, what I'm really waiting for is an in depth history of a single Clan. I dont care if its the Hojo, Shimazu, or Takeda. Just pick 1 friggin clan and give me a whole book on 'em. |

Well I think i have a book for you. The book is called Saga of the Samurai and you can get it thru Brookhurst Hobbies. So far they've done 4 books all on the Takeda(my fav)with at least 2 or 3 more on the Takeda. I have all 4 books and they're great they go for about $25.00 USD each but well worth the price. It's been awhile sine they di the 4th book but i'm hopeful that the others won't be far behind. The books cover the Takeda Clan from the early days thru Takeda Shingen,so these might be the books you're looking for Uesugi Kenshin. Captain Gideon |

I know one which is fairly new. It's called Strongholds of the Samurai(i think)and it's a composite of 3-4 other books, one which is called Japanese Castles. This book i passed on since i have have the 4 Osprey titles already, now granted it's possible that there might be some new info in there but i decided not to get it. Captain Gideon |

Vojvoda: Strongholds of the Samurai are his two castle books, the temple and monastery book, and the korean castle book. Warriors of Medieval japan is composed of a general samurai book, his ninja book, the ashigaru book, and the warrior monk book. And why is this a problem? |
