May seem like a dumb question but are they useable for TYW?

cheers

Jason

That depends entirely on what level of accuracy you want for your armies. Basicly there are considerable parts of the dress & gear which have no place in most TYW armies. (Not to mention that the figures are missing the armour, musket rests and helmets used by most TYW soldiers for much of that war)

However as there are very few accurate TYW figures available on the market you could use them for the TYW armies of the 1640's as long as you don't use the monmouth caps at all and don't use more than a few monteros in a German or Swedish army.

Hi Jason

I have seen the royalist box and think that they would wrok well for French/german armies of the TYW…..I dont think the figures would work well though perhaps (or you wouldnt have much choice) if you were doing a Spanish/Swedish army….

What 28mm figures do you think would be good for TYW Swedish and German armies?

I believe that on other posts Daniel has had some problems with the TAG Swedish infantry in "long" coats. If they are not right – and I am taking Daniel's word at it, since he appears to know what he is talking about – what figures would be?

TAG makes Swedes in both long and short coat.

Yes the TAG are wonderful and sculpted by Nick Collier who also did both the Renegade and Bicorne ECW ranges

Daniel S30 Apr 2009 2:33 p.m. PST

The TAG Swedes are very nicely sculpted but suffers from several flaws as far as the historical details of the design is concerned. I know that a fair number of wargamers wil argue that these flaws are all 'minor' and unimportant but personaly I sick and tired of having to make do with poorly research figures even if they are superbly sculpted.

Why should Renaissance period players not enjoy the same quality and accuracy available to those who play later periods?

I agree with Daniel's opinion on the TAG Swedes. I would like to have seen some Hackapell with at least helmet and breast plate, for example.
