As promised, I have finally posted pictures of my 6mm skirmish game board with a zombie game in progress, as well as pictures of unpainted rioter figures from Irregulars 6mm range:

These are great. Even though Irregular Miniatures detail is sometimes lacking, you have made these come to life with your paint jobs. The civilians are clearly who they are supposed to be. Very nice indeed.

I love it. Great idea. Has it been played in anger yet? Is the size of the figures / gamers' fingers proving a problem?

Wow, looks great!

Thanks,

That's pretty cool.

Thanks. Now get painting. :)

That's very inspiring. I really need to make a downtown section for gaming.

Actually smokey, those were old pics of the 50 or so zombies I had before painting; the finihsed product is in the other gallery.

Game play went great and the scale proved easier to work with than I thought. There were some excessively fiddly moments, like when we were laying down figures to represent "knocked down/stunned." The figs are so light they tended to roll around or their magnets zapped them together. These events were pretty few and far between though. Mostly it was great fun.

Based mine on 40x20mm bases to alleviate the presumed fiddliness…survivors and such can probably well use individual bases though, I guess. Nice stuff.

Impressive work – especially for 6 mm

Very Nice !! As I said on another thread here, all I do is 6mm Sci-Fi. And people are surprised to see how good 6mm looks painted up. We do 5 troops per base, like with G/W's Epic. That is where we got started with 6mm Sci-fi.

LOL, Yonderboy. My first attempt at a 1/1 scale Rorkes Drift game in 10mm proved disasterous because I used magnet bases for the figures,

AND magnetic barricade and mealie bags. (so when a figure was on the wall, he would stay, or so I figured)

Stoopid! Figures close together would send eachother flying because of the polarity/magnet thing (I'm no scientist), and sometimes they would stick to the barricades, other times they would levitate and kinda jump off, depending on which way they were facing.

And, figures would fall, twist and lock bases :(

That's when I went with magnetic terrain and washer bases for the figures. :)

Looks really great.

this is certainly inspiration. I have a bunch of Epic scale space marines and orks lying around. Not enough to make an Epic or Dirtside game, but more than plenty for skirmishing.

Gotta get some reasonably big bases though

Would be nice to have the weapon ranges actually be in scale for a change :)

Skipper30 Apr 2009 6:31 p.m. PST

I'd recomend very small washers glued double thick for easier manipulation. It also allows them to be stored in magnetic trays.

I love the work, and am truly inspired.

good point on the thicker bases. That'd make them nice and easy to pick up

One advantage to a fairly large base would be that you can do almost a mini diorama on there, with a bit of shrubbery or rocks or whatever. But maybe the little guy will just vanish in that
