I would like to make some Crop Circles for a wargame, but being 'challenged' at making scenery, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to go about making one? link link I thought of getting a door mat, marking the design on top and then cutting out the pattern. Cant anyone think of an easier way? Would gluing strands of hemp rope on to a board in the pattern I want work? |

I think cutting down the doormat, in the pattern you want, with a dremel, or similar tool, would work nicely. Just don't leave it lying carelessly about, in case the aliens suffer from depth perception problems in our atmosphere. Otherwise, you might be in for a rude shock in the middle of the night. |

Might be easier buying some of that acrylic 'teddy bear fur' at your nearest Spotlight and cutting the pattern in with a pair of electric clippers. |

Last time I asked about crop circles: TMP link However, this is what I'm planning to use (or something like it), when the time comes: link CC |

Did you ever get anywhere with them? I might tinker around and post some photos. |

Too late link One other way would be to use glue to trace out the outside of the pattern and put static grass on that part and paint on the remainder (i.e. the pattern). Silflor have very log 6.5mm grass that ould be used with shorter grass to show the difference. link has wild grass matting that can be cut into shape Failing all of that maybe link can help? Cheers Andrew – great ideas there, and the minis will be very useful for what I want to do with my games |

Depending on the scale, you could get wheat-colored static grass. Lay down your pattern in glue, sprinkle on the grass. Oh, I see that has already been suggested. For the doormat or fur, don't mess around with shaving it down to a certain height. Just cut the pattern completely out so you have a hole through the material. Glue it onto a backing board. |

to my shame i didnt think of cutting out the shapes in the door mat and gluing them onto a backing board. |

Isn't there a moratorium on the use of Teddy Bear skins for use as terrain? Maybe it is just voluntary

link link Or check your local Mal-Wart/Lowes/etc. for outdoor "grass" pile covering and a sideburn trimmer
$25-30 bucks or so for both |

Wow. That looks great. I don't see any indication on size though. Edit: Found the dimensions (297 x 210 mm, which is something like 11.5 x 8 inches) and additional info here (though I can't read it!) link CC |

oooh very nice – but at over $50.00 AUD plus postage, I think I will try to make my own first. |

I don't blame you! But still, gives you an idea of what is possible. Can't wait to see what you come up with. CC |

what I do need to know is how tall a crop field should be for 25-28mm scale. |
