I played around with some lego and magnets to make some flexible flight stands that could also reflect altitude. Here is a quick pick of the results. link

Some other colors are available including red. Honestly I don't know how I missed buying red. The minis depicted are 1/300 WWI, 1/600 WW2 and Silent Death. Each have a magnet glued under them with a corresponding magnet on the lego. The Staaken actually has two magnets using a flat three pole lego piece to connect to the tube.

The black circles on the white stand are O-rings from a hardware store.

That is pretty neat!

If anyone is interested in using this method and want to know where to get the bits:

shop.lego.com/pab

For the cylinders look in 'bricks special' on page 18.

For the base part look in 'plates special' on page 8.

I think the Lego flight stands are a work of genius that should be commended…I commend you sir!

I never would have thought of it.

agreed Inso…. the clear stand with the blue tinted base looks very sophisticated…

Ditto-perfect!

That's the coolest idea for flight stands I've seen yet. I'll definitely be adopting it when it comes to my microarmour airforces. Thanks, for sharing.

Thanks for the comments. I hope that Lego comes out with a clear base someday but for the now the light blue with clear is my favorite also. FYI the cylinders have a hole in the top rather than being solid like most bricks. The hole fits the magnet perfectly so everything fits relatively flush.

How cool are those! Sheer genius. I'm definitly going to steal this idea.

Also you did a damn fine job on those 20mm plastic moderns

playing around with these, I discovered that a Lego is
the exact same height as a Heroscape level.

Interesting possibilities there.. :-)
