The Beautiful Game

Has anyone come across a game layout which, in the way it was made, so exactly seemed to fit the period depicted?

Some games, you might say 'wow'; this one just struck many onlookers as beautiful and I thought you might like to see it. The attention to materials used in the terrain looked almost Japanese; and the layout could have been divined with Feng Shui. At Salute it won the 'Best Army' prize too.

This is the 'Siege of Okamoto-Jo'.
by Oshiro Model Terrain, painted by James Sharpe. Hope you like it.

Wow! Absolutely stunning. Everything from figures to terrain to boats – fantastic.

Fantastic terrain. it would have been fun to see it in the flesh, so to speak.

Koi in a pond…I can even smell the rice cooking in the houses, hear the barking of dogs and the beating of the drum as the seige wore on.

Are those Perry figures?

Very nice, but it looks to Clean, they need to dirty it up a bit. :)

Just Wow. This is my dream table, really. I've been working on stuff like this for over a year now and I nowhere near done. I've been eyeing the Oshiro terrain for some time, but have held back due to the expense and distance. I expect I'll put in an order eventually. Thank you very much for sharing. I can see why it won best in show. This rivals the Perry's own board, although, they had the help of the top pro painters on their miniatures.

Any idea who made this ship or if it's scratch built?

"Are those Perry figures?"

Those are indeed.

I am just at a loss for words. That is the most magnificent set up I have ever seen in my entire life. A tip of the hat to the guys at Oshiro.

I'm green with envy.

That goes double for me.

nycjadie,
''Any idea who made this ship or if it's scratch built?''

I think I remember James saying he made the boats.

That guy has a lot of talent (and a lot of time, I think)! Hopefully I'll be able to make a UK show some day and meet the guy and his models in the flesh.

Far freakin' out man! Very, very nicely done. I do however agree with Inari7 on the need for it to be a bit dirtier and a bit grimier. It could also do with a little smoky haze here and there for it to be trule "perfect." Still I'm not going to kick it out of my local con or off a table at the local game store. That is just too beautiful for words.
