I believe this is a relatvely new company but does anyone know if they are compatible with Crusader. Thinking of using them as Roman/Carthaginian allies.

aventineminiatures.co.uk

Got to say they do look fantastic sculpts.

LEGION 195021 Apr 2009 7:11 a.m. PST

I do not think that they are readyyet? I could be wrong. Mike Adams

There is a figure comparison on the site:

They do look like a great range, especially the centurion-type figure. I like the shields with javelins attached, in their shop, too. If they come up with a similar thureos, at some stage, that would be handy.

Advancing spear upright, advancing spearmen/pilum, adv. swordsmen and adv. axemen should be ready this week. Will be marked available when ready. Cavalry will follow in two weeks and Volusian infantry shortly after. I'm not sure what size Crusader's Republican Romans are for comparison, we don't have any. Adam, Aventine Miniatures

Harborne Dave21 Apr 2009 8:10 a.m. PST

Thanks all.

Aecurtis thanks for pointing the comparison photo on the site I hadn't spotted that. Looks like they fit in with A&A+Crusader

Adam I think A&A and Crusader are very similar in style and size (same sculptor) so I'll probably place a sample order and try yours out.

With Crusader, I always think that the size depends on the pose- quite often their advancing figures, look rather shorter than the ones standing upright. I think this is visible on the comparison photo.

Certainly the upright Crusader Roman officers I own, look fine alongside my bigger minis, such as the Foundry Copplestones and Salehs, and I'm guessing they would work with the Aventines.

I'll look forward to seeing the Aventine cavalry!

Simon

ps Hi Mike!

aecurtis Fezian21 Apr 2009 9:13 a.m. PST

"Volusian"?

Garand21 Apr 2009 9:57 a.m. PST

I have some of these on order. I also have plenty of Crusader and A&A figures too, so I can do a direct (3rd party) comparison when I get them!

Damon.

Hi Allen, guess you can tell I watch Star Trek too much:) Adam

aecurtis Fezian21 Apr 2009 4:26 p.m. PST

And here I thought you might be doing figures from Robert E. Howard's "Kull the Conqueror"! grin

I'll be interesting in seeing what you have in mind for Volscians, as I found evidence for them to be rather spare.

Simon, hi Mary my lovely wife is taking photos of my figures . Hopefully in a month I may e-mail you some! Cheers Mike P.S. I will be ordering some of these figures also!

oldbob21 Apr 2009 6:37 p.m. PST

I got some last week, I'm still drooling! I've already started mixing them with the Crusader Republican Romans!

Harborne Dave22 Apr 2009 12:04 a.m. PST

Thanks again everyone. Think an order is required for these soon.

Adam when will you be listed on TMP? Also what is new? Mike Adams

Smithy01 May 2009 10:17 a.m. PST

Hi Mike,

Keith has just posted pics of the axemen and the swordsmen. They come with a separate weapons arm with a ball and socket joint. Three different arm poses and four head variants to a pack. Four packs in all. I'll be doing an axeman unit and mixing some axemen/swordsmen with the pilum armed guys to give lots of variation in my pilum units. Some of the figures may double as junior officers with swords raised etc. Working on the cavalry at the moment so don't know when I'll get painting but check out the greys for the above on the website. I think there is a pic of a painted swordsman Keith may be able to put on later to give a better idea of what's possible. Thanks for the Interest! Adam

Scroll to bottom of the home page. I'll not go bail for the angle some of the arms appear to have been glued at but it should give some indication of variation. Adam

Sorry I was in a bit of a hurry to get them cast, sprayed and posted. But does show the extremes one could go to. LOL

Adam & Keith . thank you for the information! Mike Adams

Monophthalmus02 May 2009 2:02 p.m. PST

Very nice looking models – think I'll need to get some of these to complement my A&A Samnites. Can't wait for the Pyrrhus in Italy range. Any clues as to what you'll be releasing Adam / Keith?

Smithy03 May 2009 8:39 a.m. PST

Hi,

We'll start with elephants. We've had some requests for these already. Adam

LEGION 195004 May 2009 6:58 a.m. PST

Adam& Keith are those LBMS shield transfer and if so ,will you be selling them in your store? Thanks Mike P.S. The figures look great!

Spotter04 May 2009 8:33 a.m. PST

We used LBMS tranfers on the painted figures in the gallery and on the site. Steve at LBMS has agreed to put some of the designs onto sheets and list them under our name. We will then carry stock. As to when they will be ready, I can't say as Steve has a lot on at the moment. We have been advising those that have asked where they are from and what we used, we will continue to do so as we await the new sheets from Steve.

Hope that helps.

Regards
Keith

Sorry for the above just got in from work! Mike

Garand05 May 2009 6:06 p.m. PST

I just got my Aventine minis today. I ordered ETR 006a and 005a, both Etruscan hoplites advancing/attacking. VERY nice figures. One thing really appreciate is the nice THICK castings for feathers. On the A&A Samnites, often the feathers were either miscast or very delicate. No chance of these coming off! One was actually bent, and trying to straighten it would be a chore. The attacking pack came with Pila, but it would be an easy matter to replace with spears for an attacking pose. Pack came with 4 variants of essentially the same pose: 2 with Montefortino helmets, one with what looks like an Italio-attic helmet, and one with a Greek style "Phrygian" helmet. 2 figures have scale armor and 2 with mail. The advancing pack is essentally the same style of pose: 2 guys with Etrusco-corinthian helmets, 1 guy with a Etrusco-Pylos (I just made that up!) helmet and full crest, and 1 guy in a montefortino. All have mail armor.

Overall very happy with the figures, and appear to be the same "style" as Crusader figures as well as the A&A range. I'll definitely be making repeat orders…

Damon.

I got my order yesterday. I was not disapointed , the figures are crisp & no flash! Also the feathers on the helmets were not broken! I can not wait to see the cav! Also will be ordering more figures later. Adam &Keith keep up the great figures & service! Mike Adams

Well folks the cavalry have arrived. For all those that have been asking the photos are now on the site and those awaiting their orders, they are going out this afternoon.

Thanks Keith, I think they look great!

Nice horses and crisply designed and cast. Some of the cavalry look like they would be useful for Republican Rome, as well.

LEGION 195019 May 2009 6:31 a.m. PST

Simon, as you can see, I just got in from work. I will be walking out the door for rehab on my shoulder. Yes they are nice figures, will fit with my Crusader Romans and others! Cheers Mike

oldbob19 May 2009 9:47 a.m. PST

Oh no, more bright shiny beautiful miniatures from these guys. Is it my imagination or are the new cavalry figures being moved around on their website right now? I'm definitely buying a bunch more of them!
