I'm organzing the various boxes with my 1/600 ACW ships and I made the mistake of counting them.

ONE HUNDRED AND SIX HULLS!

And that's not counting tugs, torpedo boats and barges.

Kits from Thoroughbred Models, TCS, Peter Pig, Bay Area Yards plus a few scratch builts for stuff that no one else made (at the time).

If admitting you have a problem is the first step on the road to recovery…then I'm just fine!

(And I'm wondering…just a few more double-enders and Itasca class gunboats and I'm done, right?)

So, am I alone in this? How big is your fleet?

Scott Mingus10 Apr 2009 4:09 p.m. PST

Well, today it's zero, but I am buying a friend's 1:600 collection in a couple of weeks and diving into ACW naval gaming.

So, I will have 16 ships, plus miscellaneous piers, wharves, and add-ons, plus shore forts, etc.

Wow!
My fleet is more like a squadron or a detachment of a squadron, compared to yours G-Dog;
I have two Confederate Ironclads; Albemar (sp?) and Neuse plus several Union "Tinclads" that fought in th Coastal Waters of North Carolina.
Some day, I'll run a game with them.
They sure do make some fine ships.

Well, I've got 43 immediately visible, almost all European, and all from BAY or scratchbuilt.

There's another 20 or so around somewhere.

T Callahan10 Apr 2009 5:00 p.m. PST

30 or so

Sundance10 Apr 2009 5:27 p.m. PST

I have about 15 or 16 Union and Confed combined. My friends also have a mix that adds about 8 or 9 so we can do some interesting scenarios.

Pictors Studio10 Apr 2009 5:47 p.m. PST

I have 15 ships total for both sides. I also have some fortifications all in 1/600th scale.

Carpenter10 Apr 2009 6:01 p.m. PST

9 inches…

Lord Hypnogogue10 Apr 2009 6:33 p.m. PST

I wear a size 13 (US)….
Oh, FLEET.

The G Dog Fezian10 Apr 2009 7:16 p.m. PST

And I see that Thoroughbred has added some new hulls. I could replace my old Peter Pig Choctaw and I don't have the Missouri yet…

…maybe I do have a problem.

vojvoda10 Apr 2009 7:16 p.m. PST

I think I am around 30 so far, they are all Thoroughbred Models. I plan to pick up about 10 or so more come Historicon.

I have only seven 1/600 (1 Reb and 6 Yankee), but had around 70 1/1200 including scratch-builts before I sold them off.

David Manley10 Apr 2009 10:14 p.m. PST

About 120, and a similar number in 1/1200.

Comfortably over 100 but in 1/2400, that's not so bad sounding.

Why am I not surprised? laugh

A little over 100. All are 1/600 Thoroughbred or BAY models. About 90% are Thoroughbred.
