Ok, it is cheap and I already have a bottle. Would this stuff make a decent gloss coat? Should I use it straight or dilute it?

Thanks!

Dilute it a bit, and experiment. It makes an excellent gloss coat. Light coats, nothing heavy or you'll get an orange peel look. Make sure you clean your airbrush afterwords.

Or any of the 3,876 (give or take a few) threads regarding Future/Kleer that have already been on TMP. grin

It is tough. It doesn't yellow. It is very forgiving. I brush it on. Some people dilute it, some don't. Did I say: it's very forgiving? I've never had the orange peel effect myself. But the Complete Future site gives a good rundown on possible causes and preventive measures.

great gloss . use thin coats and Clean your airbrush very well

I use it in an airbrush and don't thin. Also, mixed with around 1/3 of Tamiya Flat base it also makes a good dullcote…

Stokes, of the Grand Duchy of Stollen, uses two coats of future to give an old school feel to his tricorne era figures. You can see the results at his blog: link

I use it as a sealer after I paint and before I do the "magic wash" thing. The figures are very glossy then so I use a final coat of brush-on Delta Ceramcoat matte sealer to reduce everything to a more dull satin coating.

If you like the orange peel effect – do a dip – you will get it virtually every time!
