I recently picked up a copy of this out of print Osprey and found out that no less than eight pages in my copy are actually from an American Civil War volume instead (maybe why it's out of print). Does anyone have a full version who would be willing to scan the missing pages for a modest PayPal fee?

If so I will let you know which pages, of course.

Thanks.

Monkey Hanger,
you have the Louis XV books, minus 2 (MAA308 and 313).
The Louis XIV book is MAA203.

Sorry, yes it's 203. I'm missing pages 34,35, 38,39,42,43, 46 & 47

Bad break, legatus. Reminds me of my younger days working the production line at a bindery in upstate New York. We produced magazines, a very few clean ones like Starlog but mostly low-end sleaze: Man's Pleasure, Man's Delight, Cheri, Gent: Home of the D Cups and so on.

One day the foreman called a meeting and read us a tear-stained letter from some kid whose Starlog we had botched by inserting duplicate pages here, missing others there. Your story makes me think: could've been worse, at least we didn't mix in the soft-core porn.

How do you know they were tear stains? :-(

Anyway that probably explains why my copy of Armies of Louis the XIV has six plates, with some very un Rene Chartrand style illustrations all marked as DD rather than the usual A – F.

I bought this same book off a guy on Ebay a few years back. Same story regarding the missing pages. When I e-mailed him regarding it he told me "Collectors Item". Ya right!

Keraunos07 Apr 2009 9:14 a.m. PST

how odd, I got this book without any problem at a show last year.

I wonder whether the 'collectors' item is in fact the same book doing the circut like a bad penny, where is yours now dmebust?

dmebust08 Apr 2009 2:11 p.m. PST

On my book shelf.
