Seriously cool IMHO, and now at 38% pre-order. This keeps up we'll have plastic modular starship sprues to mess with in no time

Awesome! I was holding back on buying these because I had no idea what they would look like. The concept renders would go great with Starblazers Yamato ships, or with BFG. On my way now to preorder some ! |
Parzival | 31 Mar 2009 7:51 p.m. PST |
Okay, if they look like that, you might just have a sale! These would be perfect for G.O.B.S.! |

Yo! people, I am an old Space Battleship Yamato *fanatic* to say the least. The ships that sprang forth from the imagination of the series creator? he is a god in my country! I have been aiming more or less in this stylistic direction all along

Take a couple of Montana's and add a spinal mount and FTL drive. I'd take those in a heartbeat, especially if they are accompanied by a few space-Fletchers. :) |

I'm still not keen on gun turrets being *that* large . . . However, the modular hulls and general idea I am well behind, though would prefer Rommel Twee's modules for my style. Yes, I might just put my support behind these as well. ( And hope to have a job by the time they want the lolly piad in . . . :( ) |

More fan renders in 3D now up: link
It's getting better with each new render, and we haven't hit 50% pre-order yet for official 3D WF renders
. we're at 48% BTW, so if any of you are fence sitting, get off the fence!

I do like those new turrets – Rather cool IMHO . . . and the railgun and torpedoe options are excellent. |

Just put my self down for 3 sprues. This might be great for Squadron Strike provided there not too large. |
BlackWidowPilot | 14 Apr 2009 4:42 p.m. PST |
We've broken the 50% mark! WF is now obligated to render *official* 3D images of this proposal! Keep 'em comin,' people!

From the first link to the renders, the dreadnought has guns in the middle of it's two 'prongs' at the front of the hull that will shoot each other! |

"From the first link to the renders, the dreadnought has guns in the middle of it's two 'prongs' at the front of the hull that will shoot each other!" LOL!! It wasn't just me

Of course, with the modular system, those turrets could be replaced with torpedo launchers

From the first link to the renders, the dreadnought has guns in the middle of it's two 'prongs' at the front of the hull that will shoot each other! Everybody's a critic! The "gun" battery is just a flat section that can be applied anywhere. I was just lazy and left it on. Anyway thanks for pointing it out. |
| Lampyridae | 01 May 2009 6:32 p.m. PST |
OK, sorted that issue out. link Now showing some more of the flat panelling options. Turret weapons etc. will follow next week. |

Lampyridae, now that is the return of cool, my friend! Also like the speculative wet navy vessels, probably coloured by my recent rereading of the James Cobb/Amanda Garrett books, and wishing that Old Crow would consider some slightly larger vessels based on these, and maybe the HMAS Hammersley. But yes, for my money, your ships are just waht FT space jockeys would dole out good gelt for :) |

These new items from Lampyridae are brilliant! Very FT suitable for minor powers, like a sort of Interstellar Thorneycroft style. And that big block section will make for some nice scratchbuilding projects as well, which was one of the ideas behind it all. If the final option is this, or similar, then I will be buying . . . |

My latest idea is to have interlocking shapes. In other words, the block section is actually composed of two interestingly shaped sections with greebles on the topside that lock in to form a big block. I think this may also help the plastic flow issues. As for styling, I'm looking a lot at current and future wet navy, as well as tank designs. The old U or T class subs are also a good inspiration – they had something like 10 forward torpedo tubes and had a very interesting prow. |
BlackWidowPilot | 09 May 2009 12:56 p.m. PST |
Lampyridae, A set of torpedo vents one could place on various locations on the hull would be very cool, just a flat plate of sorts with some obvious launcher vents or troughs cut into the silly thing. Multiple variants of single, twin, triple, and quad would IMHO be the optimum, allowing people to build either a variety of torpedo armed vessels, or a dedicated nuclear missile/torpedo cruiser type warship. Food for thought
