I have seen a lot of pre-Napoleonic naval topics going into the general 18th Century Discussion board. Maybe some of these topics bleed over into the Pirates and Napoleonic Naval boards as well. I feel that they should have a proper home. I propose a "Sailing Navies c. 1500-1750" board. This is an important era, during which the sailing ship evolved from an armed troopship into a well-formed weapon system. Surely it deserves to be represented on the boards.

It's time to give up the fight. Bill, let every member have his own damn board, just for the things he wants to talk about. Then there shouldn't be a need for any more polls for new boards--which are under a current moratorium, but nobody seems to pay that any mind.

I love sailing ships but . . . another board?

I think a board for AWI or SYW naval actions would be perfectly serviced on the Napoleonic Naval Board. How much changed? Not enough to warrant a new board.

OK, sounds like a no-go. Thanks for listening.
