Ok I been reading a lot about minwax. So I went to check it out at walmart and I find there are diffent kinds.
Wood Finish,Polyurethane,Gel stain and Polyshades.
Which one are you all using to dip with?
I will be puting my on with brush.

Polyshades Satin Tudor is the most popular though you can try other shades too.

Most stores do not carry the Tudor shade though. The only place I have ever found it is the local Ace Hardware store. Of course your experience may differ.

I've found that thinning the stain with mineral spirits before brushing it on gives better results, in my opinion.

Aren't you supposed to add a drop or two of dish soap as well?

The Classic MinWax dipping stain is:
"Minwax Polyshades polyurethane Tudor satin stain"

This is NOT a water based product so do not add anything water based (like dish soap) to it. Just thin and clean up with mineral spirits. See:
link

Some folks use a MinWax water based stain see:
link

This one can be thinned with water, one could add dish soap or other water based flow agent and can be mixed with Future Floor Finish. I have not tried this method myself, but have seen good results of other folks figures.

The other popular water based alternative is to add color to Future Floor Finish and use that.

See: link
for some details

I cut it 1 to 1 with the equivilant clear product and like the results (less muddy): Tudor Satin with Clear Satin. Also brushing it on gives more control. The go back after 5 minutes and brush off anything that pooled – around the feet, hands, armpits, back of the knees, crotch, chin, hat or helmet brims are the usual suspects. Not always the case, but giving 'em a quick once over is a good idea.

Broadsword, how do you store it once you've mixed? Every attempt I've made to transfer Minwax from its container has met with disastrous results.

I would suspect he pours it into another container, mixes it and then repours it back into the original containers, after cleaning them some of course.

To the originial poster, you want to go with the Polyshades and any of it's colors. I also found Tudor at my local Lowes hardware if you have them local. It was also the lowest price there. Although I decided to go with Antique Walnut as the Tudor is just too black for my current project.

Cool, Polyshade Antique Walnut is what I will try frist. We do have it here in the stores.
Thanks to you all. I be glad to hear more ideals you all have.

Antique Walnut made my Tyranids look like they had taken a bath in AWESOMENESS.
