These Pendrakens look rather nice: link On the other hand, these (on the right side) look rather cartoony: pendraken.co.uk/scifi.htm What are their figures really like? Thanks. CC |

Is 10mm a viable scale for Scfi gaming? Thanks, John |

Sure. Why wouldn't it be? Are you suggesting that sci-fi can only be played in larger scales? (Probably not,John, but I didn't see a smiley.) Just as in other periods, 10mm has benefits from 6mm in needed less "space" to play yet large enough to show off some detail. Also, vehicles are way more affordable than their 28mm cousins! I also see where 15mm has really picked up. I had a customer at Atttactix, 12 years ago, complain that nobody really made anything for Sci-Fi in 15mm. Bet he's happy now! 8>) Best Tom Dye GFI |

I would have thought that any wargame from any genre could be played in any scale up to 1:1. It's all dependent on the rules employed. After all, our respective governments seem to think it's okay to wargame in 1800mm (1:1 scale), and who knows what rules they're using. On a less serious note, though, wouldn't an SF rule system based on 28mm figs work if you simply divided movements by 3? I used to tinker a lot with rules for skirmishing, taking the best from each, and blending them together into something I liked better. For example, I always liked the Middle-Earth Role-Playing System, mainly for it's detailed (and often funny) descriptions of critical hits. So I adapted it for SF skirmish. I found it brought a little more colour and life to the games. I really like the Pendraken Face Huggers. They're a cut above the rest of the line, and actually a near perfect match in size for the Leading Edge 25/28mm huggers. Some of the aliens work as ickle baby aliens in 28mm, too. Matt |

I'm late onto this but will add my thoughts. For rules try 5150, Ambush alley or even space hulk itself. I got the Pendraken aliens for a mini version of space hulk that we made and they are excellent, very evocative of those from the movies. I don't have any other Pendraken sci-fi stuff but do have lots of colonial and world war one of theirs and I think they are great – as said by someone earlier they are (for me) the optimum balance of size, mass effect and individual detail. As well as larger games we actually skirmish with them on an 18 inch square board sometimes – how's that for convenience! |

Dirtside 2. I suggested 3 to a GW round base, – the base counts as 1 40k figure, but the ranges make more sense when put against the figures, plus it looks like platoon combat, but my son said that was heresy to use other manufacturers |

Nah, I dabble in all scales so am really just curious if the impact all the new 15mm stuff would inhibit folks from considering 10mm. Thanks, John |

Well I've used the Aliens for a HOTT army. They go against 15mm Colonial Marines though. |
