recently received british Cavalry, mounted dervish from AIP and some Timpo gatling guns. These will make sweet addtions to my sudan campaign forces. Also picked up the mahdists war source book volumes from the virtual armchair general. Thinking of using bundocks and bayonets (free rules) by Bob Cordery. Anyone use those? how would they feel with 54mm figs? should I double or triple the scales for ranges and frontages? Comments welcome |

I've used Bob's rules and like them. I tweaked them for Sihk Wars using 28mm. I like the card ordering system and the fact you can custom design the decks. You can then control the pace of the game based on your understanding of the units and/or their history. I use 12 figure infantry units, 6 figure skirmish/ irregulars, 6 figure cavalry with a few 9 figure lancer units and 3/4 figure artillery units. You just need to adjust the morale die roll values to fit the new unit sizes. Of course, the number of units should equal the number of cards. Plays very well solo also. BTW, if Bob reads this, a big Thank You for making the rules available |

Oh
forgot
the unit widths are 8 x 1 inches for infantry; 6 x 1 inches for skirmishers and 6 x 2 inches for cavalry. The artillery are on a 2" x 2" base, as are camel guns, camel rocketters, and command figures. |

i just painted up some of these AIP horse, both in khaki and red tunics and they look nice. i will post a few pictures on the horseandmusket.com website when i finish the horse reins and buttons and some shading. I also have recently been drawn to the Victorian era and AIP has made some really nice figures for this period. I have a nice photo of a large british force being ambushed by a Mahdi force on the website. I will look at the rules by Bob and give them a whirl. Always good to hear excitment in 54mm figures as these are the size i begun to game in. thanks Custer7thcav. |

Horseandmusket--Checked out your site and saved the pics as inspiration--nice job!!! Ogdenlulimus---Do I understand correctly that you replaced the standard playing cards with custom cards for each unit? I was thinking of doing that by making a card with the uniform scheme (from the excellent Perry bros document) of the unit and other sundry info. If that is what you mean then I am looking forward to some solo play! |

What does "AIP" refer to? I'm not familiar with that company. |
