Where could I find a 28mm 18th century stage coach for pirates games ?

Any cart in 28mm too ?

Mega Minis makes a nice Peasant In Cart set. You can get coaches at Michaels I'm told, in the cake decorating aisle. Dixon makes lots of carts, wagons and stages in the Old West range…

Blue Moon miniatutres has a coach with running horses and the passengers onboard or standing horses and the passengers dis-mounted (so they're easier to rob!).

Michael's Craft Stores in the USA has a pack of plastic coaches in it's wedding Favor section. You get 6 for $10. USD You may want to replace the horses, though.

Imex makes a stage coach that they list as 1/72nd scale but it is a bit large.

I think Redoubt might make them.

Seem to recall them with their Musketeers range.

Eureka might as well – not sure on that one.

Top Gun Ace19 Mar 2009 7:32 p.m. PST

Great tip on the wedding coach, assuming it is close enough in scale to be useful.

John the OFM19 Mar 2009 8:27 p.m. PST

TThe Wedding coach is cheap, and I have used it with 25/28mm figures with no problem.
The picture doesn't show it very clearly, since it's clear plastic.

Big Martin20 Mar 2009 5:58 a.m. PST

Yes – Redout do make one.

Go with the cheap wedding cake version. I have seen these repainted and done up very nicely. Shoot I almost bought some even though I don't even really need them!

I have a list of 28mm carts and wagons;

Many thanks. The wedding one is cheap but i am not sure I could buy it as I don't live in the USA.

GW has a coach in their "Mordheim" range that is quite nice.

Just picked up a pack of the Michaels couches. 6 of them for $8, nice price that. They size up nice with my pirate figs. Now for the paint jobs. Many thanks for pointing this out this is something I did want but felt I would not bew able to afford any time soon.

Went to my Michael's and they didn't have squat. Going to check online next. Thanks for the tip.

(@ John the OFM: we know that the TMP boards are 'your blog' TMP link , but it's not the most friendly way to post pics of your works – cheers!)

Thanks for the photos. I ordered a Michael's coach.

Moavoamoatu28 May 2009 2:45 p.m. PST

I finally bought the Michael's Craft Store coach. Thanks for the advice. Here is the final result once painted with Eureka miniatures as passengers and crew, and Games Workshop horses :

Absolutely outstanding! And, to tell the truth, quite… intimidating for us less talented people.
Looking forward to enjoy 'the attack of the coach'.
Your (self-)conversion of a resin Fenryll pirate is also an inspirational exemple.
Compliments,
Jean-Louis

Certainly more expensive, but sound interesting (from message #30915 on the Old School Wargaming Yahoo Group link ):
"have been "straying" into the dark world of old plastic models of late, and
stumbled upon the following that may be of interest to some members. The
following are all on Ebay currently (I have indicated the Ebay item numbers and
if UK or USA), all are in Model Railroading 1/48th scale, which means they
should actually work with the larger figure ranges like Stadden and Willie
(usually around 1/50 to 1/52), possibly even some large 28's (Mindens are true
1/56), though the horses and/or crew figures may need replaced.

Tally-ho Passenger Coach – 150346626345 – UK, with uniformed driver, footman and
trumpeter, closed coach, later 18th to early 19th century, but easily modifiable
plastic.

State Coach of England – 150346626546 – UK, with outriders and footmen in
"jockey caps", enough "pomp and circumstance" for any Imagination Monarch.

Same as above, only in USA – 220417392277

Layfayette Coach, – 370153913419 – USA, open 18th century carriage with
passengers and driver and 2-horse team.

All are, of course, plastic models with some "fiddly" assembly, but could turn
out some lovely transport for your special character figures. I have no
connection to any of the auctions or sellers, simply discovered them in my
wanderings. I have seen both the State Coach and the "Tally-ho" coach before
though, "in the plastic", and feel that they could be made to work. I'm sure you
could contact sellers and acquire dimensions if desired."
