Just received my first batch of 15mm Flames of War miniatures from Reinforcements by Post. Beautiful work! The colours, detail and shading were excellent as was the work on the German Army splinter camouflage pattern uniforms. The basing was also beautifully done.

The order was also very well packed with individual figures as well as multiple-figure bases carefully wrapped. Everything arrived in good order and to my specifications.

Communication was excellent as was the timeliness (although I wasn't on any deadline). All this for an almost embarrassingly low price.

The company was recommended by a friend here in Melbourne and I'd seen some of the work that they'd done for him. They lived up to my expectations and the recommendation, and I've shipped off my second order to them already.

Hmm, he's been a member for 8 days and only one post. This is just an unpaid advert – buyer beware!

I have some friends here in the USA that use RBP and they give it a high recommendation as well. I've seen some of Neil's work and it is very nice. I would consider using it myself if the need arose.

Pics and costs?

Almost an ad, but no link so is that an ad?

IR1Lothringen09 Mar 2009 3:54 p.m. PST

This is not an ad. just an endorcement of an excellent painting service. The figures displayed on this link where painted for me and formed the core of my SYW armies. I highly recommend the painting skills. Costs are clearly stated on the website.

People can be very suspicious. You can find reviews of my work from other people on the painting services section of this site. I link to some of the reviews here

*Shrug* I find it pays to be suspicious of people who have just registered on a forum and only posted once when that post is to say how wonderful some product or service is.

IR1Lothringen, on the other hand, is much more believeable, because he's been on the forums for a while and is an active poster.

I was not saying that Reinforcements by Post are no good, all I was trying to do was let people know that the opinion of Diponegoro couldn't be trusted and that before they bought anything they should check the service out with people who are more believeable.

Chortle Fezian10 Mar 2009 4:49 a.m. PST

"buyer beware!" is too strong. You over reacted.

You could have emailed bill to see where the post came from (IP address).

Why? What would that have achieved, and why should I have bothered?

Look, I realise this is your business, and that the last thing you need is bad publicity. From others posts here it seems clear that you provide a good service, and I've not accused you of anything at all.

All I have done is flag up a suspicious post, and I feel no guilt for doing so. In fact, I feel that it was the right thing to do to let people know the post was suspicious, and I would do it again.

Anyway, that's enough free publicity from me grin – I will now respectfully back out from this thread.

I well remember being a forum newbie years back. You think everybody is hanging on your every word and do tend to be enthusiastic about stuff and want everybody to know it when you are happy with a product or service. I myself have probably gone over the top endorsing products. Just wanted to say that. Not trying to inflame anything!

all things said and done it is poor form to rattle on about painting work and NOT post any pictures..post pictures or don't rattle on

Mal Wright Fezian11 Mar 2009 8:55 a.m. PST

I think it was very nice of Ermintrude to take the time to warn, because there are sock puppet posters.

However having seen some of the Reinforcements by post stuff myself, I can agree that the figures are very well done.

Have a look back through posts on the painting services page. I think well over half go like this

1st message : comment on painting service
2nd message : "pictures?"
3rd message : "oh, sorry…… <picture link>"

Hi All
I also have had figures painted by RBP.
(see my review of painting services at):

I can HIGHLY recommend RBP.
You won't be disappointed if you want some work done.

Diponegoro13 Mar 2009 1:54 a.m. PST

Whoa – steady on there fellas! Had no idea my post was going to cause such a stir (or ANY stir for that matter). I may be inexperienced in the art of message board etiquette but I can assure you the post is genuine and not a put-up (or a 'sock puppet' if that's the term de rigeur).

RBP was recommended by a colleague of mine from the League of Ancients wargaming club in Melbourne, Australia. I've been a long-time board gamer but only relatively recently into miniatures wargaming – this may explain my lack of form on this or any other miniatures site. Nevertheless I like to acknowledge good work and service wherever I encounter it so I signed up to TMP to express my pleasure publicly in an appropriate forum.

Not sure it makes a difference where the post comes from – if it does I can confirm that I work in Papua New Guinea (from where this post is being written) but my permanent home is Melbourne (from where the original post was written).

Please accept the original post as genuine from someone with know prior association with RBP (or even knowledge of them until late last year). If it helps I'll take some snaps of the artwork in question and post them over the weekend. I've just sent another batch off to be painted and will post a review (with pictures) when I get them back.

Cheers,

Ian (AKA Diponegoro)

James Forrest13 Mar 2009 6:35 p.m. PST

I think that clears that up. I look forward to reading your review and seeing the pics Diponegoro.

Ivan the Reasonable13 Mar 2009 11:37 p.m. PST

Ermintrude, have you ever had any issues in the past with Chortle RBP as it seems to me that the only suspicious post here is your own? Ivan the Suspicious.

Chortle Fezian14 Mar 2009 10:55 p.m. PST

I think it is OK. Ermintrude just thought it unusual that someone posted a message so early after joining TMP. When the customer came back and posted a response everything was pretty much cleared up.

Diponegoro19 Mar 2009 1:33 a.m. PST

Fellas,

Finally got around to taking the pictures – click on link to view.

Unfortunately not the best photography but I think it captures the quality of the work.

Check other references as you need to or ask RBP to paint a small batch for you and you decide from there.

I'll let you know how the next batch turns out.

Very nice

I have an Austrian corps in 6 mm painted by RBP and they are excellent, as are my newly arrived French corps

When I get my new digicam figured out I will post them, too!
