Although the RAF Waddington Wargames Club is well-established, it has not advertised its existence well for some time. The club currently meets Tuesday evenings (7-10pm) and Sunday afternoons (2-6pm) in dedicated rooms in the old ATC tower at RAF Waddington near Lincoln. The club is run by military and civilian staff working at RAF Waddington but membership is also open to personnel who don't work on the station. We are always looking for 'new blood' to join the existing members.

For further details you can visit our new club website: link

If you would like to join us for a game, our email address is: rafwaddingtonwargames@googlemail.com

Edit: Please note that due to security and air safety restrictions, attendance by non-members MUST be arranged in advance.

Ooh, was many years ago (when a distant relative was Wing Commander) that I got to look over Vulcan there.

Nick, 2 points:

1. Linking the name 'Spike' & the tmp ID of 'Cambria5622' is a break in OPSEC. (And before you say it, "Security is not a dirty word"!)

2. I don't cheat – it's just that I occasionally mis-remember a rule or 2 in my favour!!

Good to see it's still going! :o)

I was a member 1989-1990, when it was in a Quonsett Hut, just past the Vulcan, at the east end of the camp.

I tried finding you when I was there for a week in 2006, without success.

I too had great trouble making contact with the club before I moved to Waddington hence the creation of the new club website & the announcement here. Hopefully a bit of publicity will ensure we are found more easily by prospective members & visitors in the future.

Mark, if you are going to visit the station again, please drop an email to rafwaddingtonwargames@googlemail.com so we can host you for the evening.

Cheers,

It's likely to be a while. I'm running an air cadet unit these days and Wad is 300 miles from where I live, so it basically depends upon my unit getting sent to Wad/Digby/Cranwell for camp (which won't happen this year).

But I'll keep your e-mail address on file and will drop you a line when I'm in the area.

I was a member of this club till 2004, any of the old members still active?

Cambria562202 Sep 2009 6:09 a.m. PST

9Sticks,

The club is still active with at least 8 regular players (of which 4 attended last night due to leave, deployment & other work comitments etc). Bryan, John, Dennis & Steve are the longest-serving members, I believe, therefore you may remember them.
