Who makes bears for 28mm? I got thinking on this whole "Polish bear war hero…", and was gunna whip up a few…

Then Maybe they would be armed with weapons. The whole "Right to Bear Arms" gag would be a hoot to see on a table! wink

Thanks! beer

Reaper has some. If you are going to use them for mounts they have a couple with saddles for their dwarven cavalry.

I believe Foundry makes one as well.

Without arms the Grizzly Bears from Foundry are very impressive. I have them but not painted now. But those are huge the standing one is more then 5 centimeters.

Reaper's Dire Bear (2 figures) for the Warlord line have a mythical quality without looking silly.

Doesn't Copplestone have a great bear? Or is that Pulp Figs?

Doh…. Coppelstone does have a polar bear… It's in a box somewhere in the 'painting room'… Gotta go look fer it tonight…

But I may pick up a few Reapers too…

I must say I'm thrilled that my jest about ammo bear figures in service of showing everyone a link to the Voytek story is going to bear fruit!

A great list of potential conversion bears (as you can see, I've given it some thought myself) is here:

Also, Megaminis has a "Papa bear" that is not quite so large and, as it were, attack-y as some of the suggestions so far:

-- he looks like he might be lugging an ammo crate.

How 'bout these bears

Maybe not what you were thinking of

But they are awfully cute

The D&D Miniatures line has produced several bears, dire and otherwise. Some of them were commons, and likely cheaply available online.

Also, if you are looking for the hero to ride a bear, then check out the old Grenadier Ursine Cavalry:
