Hi,
While I was surfing I came across this:

I'm not really one for GW but this looked rather nice. It's the kind of gritty looking vehicle that could drag me into buying one or two. Evidently a May release date?

Sorry if this is old news!

Lots of uses …not all GW even

I'm so glad I bought the expensive resin kits that have warped parts, air pockets, parts that don't fit, and have no instructions.

Procrastination can pay!

I've always thought the Valkyrie was one of the cooler, more utilitarian designs in the the Imperial Guard inventory. Even though I'm not 40K player, I'd definitely like to get a few of these. It looks like there's only limited Imperial iconography to remove or leave off, so it should be useful for just about any 28mm sci-fi/ near future game.

Funny thing is, if this weren't an actual GW model, I could imagine a lot of 40K'ers complaining that it wasn't "IG enough" because of the lack of raised bolts and rivets and assorted skullz 'n crap.

I play 40K and I think it looks really cool.

I have the Forge World resin version – and the plastic one had better be easier to put together – this beast is a PITA. I will have at least three of the new plastic ones when I am done!

Just as good are the new Hobbit Snipers:

I wonder how easy it would be to convert to a 15mm dropship? Looks pretty scaleless apart from the cockpit.

Sergeant Crunch22 Feb 2009 7:54 a.m. PST

That's purty. Gonna have to get at least one.

My personal thoughts are that after "40K" you'd think man's ingenuity when it comes to killing one another would have advanced a little more. After all it wouldn't look too out of place on a battlefield today – that front end is an amalgam of a Hind and Apache, for instance.

But it does look rather cool – I could see it fitting right in with an "Aliens" type of sci-fi vibe (rather patched up and grubby as opposed to those antiseptic Star Wars type battle cruisers). Apparently they say a £30(ish) price tag so I don't see myself buying a flight of them but I could see one as a centrepiece for some type of game.

Syrinx022 Feb 2009 1:14 p.m. PST

I'm sure I will get a few. I wouldn't be surprised to see 5-6 appear at my gaming group.

Agent Brown, if you obscure the cockpit, you could use it as a 15mm vehicle, but it'd be massive – it's substantially larger than a Space Marine Land Raider, IIRC.

I love those Ratlings, gotta get me some.

Im resigned to the fact that Im getting at least 1…2, ok, maybe 3

So these things look like they are out – has anyone actually bought and built one?

They look rather good, even at £34.95 GBP a shot.

I'm building one at the moment – much better fit than the Forgeworld original (nightmare!!). I haven't got very far – just adding a little extra detail to the cabin roof area although you won't see much of it (the kit is designed in such a way you could leave the roof unglued to reveal the interior – I'm building it for a friend who wants troops in the cabin). Nice details in the cockpit and the crew are good (cabin gunners a little short compared to previous plastics – eg Cadians. The swivelling guns in the cabin are a bit clunky and chunky but ok. I believe there are fit problems with the cockpit canopies but haven't got there yet. have a look at the painted ones on GW's site or in White Dwarf – it's noticeable. all in all I like it!

Nice job here…

see what I mean about the roof?
