If you were a kid in the 1960s who loved history and toy soldiers, you probably had a WOW figure!

OK. So having tried it one way we'll try it another way. I've added Hochkirch 2nd edition to my blog – the first ed. is now consigned to the history of scenarios that did not quite work. The big moves for arrivals should throw some cats among the pigeons!

I thought I would give you some info from my version of Hochkirch to ponder as you tweak your scenario.

After looking a bit more at your layout I did have things oriented just a bit differently when I ran it. I actually placed the map so that the 2 main Austrian infantry columns arrived near the center of the long edge of the board (I ran it on a 6 x 20 foot board). This allowed the cavalry elements a bit more manuever room to either side.

I then had the five right most Prussian units (and the artillery) start on the board. The rest of the Prussians arrived on later turns (2,4,6) in groups as they moved to the engagement area. I made the Prussian player designate their arrival points prior to the Austrians moving on.

The Austrians began the game moving everything from your Grenz unit (Off Table#2) to the left entering the table on the first turn. I then had your off table #4,5,6 entering on turns 3,4,5 repectively.

I didn't use Piquet so their could be quite a bit of my scenario that wouldn't translate, but it might be food for thought for you.

Let us know how things develop.

I ran this twice at Siege of Augusta and it seemed to work out well. Admittedly it's set up for Might and reason but you should be able to use the info and maps.
