I took the plunge and ordered a selection of the TD 1/2400 French ironclads the other day and am really pleased with the models: link However, I've pretty much aquired all the French ironclads in the range, including all the sister ships for each class. I'd like to round of my French fleet with a few more ironclads and was wondering if I could use any of the vessels from other nations in the TD range, specifically the South American ships, as French warships? Do you have any suggestions for possible French ships that might match the Chilean, Peruvian etc models in the TD catalogue? Thanks |

I don't think you will have any joy there – no real commonality. The French ships that came after the ones in the Tumbling Dice line were all either big ships with prominent barbette mounted heavy guns in addition to broadside weapons, medium cruising ironclads, again with barbette mounted guns, or breastwork monitors, none of which resemble any of the South American ships. The closed you could come would be to stand on your head and squint, and then Cochrane might look like Redoubtable. |
