The first Williamsburg Muster convention, now over, was a fantastic success! We got nothing but great compliments and positive feed back from our attendees and also the vendors. That is not to say that we were without some problems (shortage of tables, a few no-shows, food and drinks in the hotel scarce) but the general feeling of all present (that the staff talked to) was very positive and fantastic. Watch the ODMS blog odms.blogspot.com for news and links to photos. Attendance was something in the region of 210 – counting Vendors (29), GMs (44) and the rest were Gamers (both three day and one day). Those categories blur, however, because most of our vendors were gaming or hosting games, and almost all our GMs were playing at some point. The Field of Glory tournament had a good showing. There were WAB players present, and also WH40K players, but the best tournament was the Flames of War event, with 20 players. The majority of scheduled games went off without a hitch – we had a few cancellations and table switches. Not bad for a first year. This convention director, however, has to apologize. He over extended, and had to cancel his Russo-Japanese event. My TSATF game on Saturday night was a great success, and included a number of the WAB players – keeping them from the tournament! I apologize for that, and promise never to do it again! An extra special thank you to all the staff and helpers who assisted with this show – especially Mike and Bruce – who did a truly herculean task of keeping up with registration all weekend long, and making sure that things ran perfectly! Thanks guys! Chuck |

It was really a lot of fun. I turned around during a game Saturday morning and the place was packed. Good vender selection. Good choice of games. Fun all around. Looking forward to next year already. |

Great time at a rookie convention.Very nicely done. I remember our fledgling conventions and it was a lot of work. Good job, but leave Mike and Bruce home next year! Actually they were great too. And I loved the raffle. Maynard. |

My entire crew reported having a good time. We ended up having 10 guys in attendance, we had thought we would have 12, but real life always seems to interfere
We will definitely be looking to return in 2010, great job and adulation to Chuck and his group for a GREAT first effort! Andy |

I had a great time at the show and ran two events- even won something in the raffle! This was only my third convention as a vendor, and I have to say, it was the most fun. I plan to return in 2010. I'll try to get some photos posted soon. Hats off to Chuck and everyone at ODMS for organizing a great first show. For attendees-- thank you for coming out to support the convention and the vendors! From lackey to head lackey. Big time. I'm glad you all enjoyed the con. As I have mentioned about the theme for 2010 elsewhere, it will be called Williamsburg Muster II: Peninsula Wars. Any peninsula any time period. |

After an exam I'm taking this weekend* I was going to start my "Napoleonic Peninsular Project" for completion later this year or next. I'll try to get it done by the next Williamsburg Muster in 2010. Should be able to throw it in the car and drive down no problem. Did you have events for kids or good for kids to play in? I might try to get my 10 year old son to help put on a game geared for kids too. *I'm 41 and studying for a 6 hour exam this weekend. What was I thinking? |

Kudos to the ODMS and the clubs that brought games and support. We need to do this next year too and help this con survive its infancy. I think it has been much needed to have cons in Virginia again. Well worth the trip to another great historic area of what, 15 great battles within a 50 mile radius and maybe more. Looking forward to it. |

That was my son running the Mein Panzer jr, He is actually only 8 (9 in June) He and some of the other kids turned it into a mini tournement by about 5 PM on Saturday. We had him playing full up Mein Panzer by Saturday night. We both had a great time and can't wait for next year. |

Congratulations on what looks like great attendence for a fist time convention. It sounds like your hard work really paid off. I'm impressed – keep it going for next year. I've always thought that Williamsburg would be a great location for a wargame convention. |

Williamsburg Muster has come and gone. It was a long time in the making, and seemed to be over in a flash! A very big thank-you to all our dealers, and especially to all the attendees! A grand time was had by all, and we look forward to seeing you all next year! On behalf of the staff we will be working to make Williamsburg Muster 2010, a little bigger, and a little better for all! For Ed and the gang at TSS we will see you at Southern Front, and/or Spring Fever! For those who couldn't make it this time we hope you're able to make it next time!! Thanks again, and have a great gaming year ahead!! Paul Williamsburg Muster Staff/Founding Member ODMS |
