While its not like I don't have a huge pile of ships sitting on my table in various stages of completion, I can still think about the stuff I cannot find or scracthbuild in 1/600. I find that I'm pretty much down to one hull
USS Eastport Surely I'm missing something. Whats on your list? |

Depends on how much modeling I have to do. If I could choose any ships for say Thoroughbred to do it would include: USS Mississippi sidewheel frigate (I actually have the Bay Area hull, but can't bring myself to make the masts.) Any Union frigate-Colorado, Wabash, whatever. I think ironclad rams and monitors have been done to death, would love to see more coverage of the wooden vessels. My last request is that the old board game Ironclads be either re-released or republished as a miniatures game. Kevin |

Anything with a stern mounted paddle wheel. All the models seem to have side mounted paddle wheels. Just give me something with the paddle wheel in the stern and i can make the conversions. |

Kevin: The old Ironclads game is back in print. I could order you a copy if you're interested. There was also an expansion that covers various European fleets as well. Mark Severin Owner, Scale Creep Miniatures ScaleCreep.com |

USS Mississippi sidewheel frigate (I actually have the Bay Area hull, but can't bring myself to make the masts.) BAY now has a number of mast kits – white metal masts and furled sails. |

Kevin, I'm liking the new Bay Area Yards metal mast kits. They look good, are sturdy (for cast metal masts) and assemble with nothing more than superglue. They lack a rigid wire core like the TB masts, so I do recommend bracing the masts with standing rigging, but that's just a matter of cutting really thin wire and gluing it to the hull and mast. |

Cool on the masts, I'll check 'em out. Thanks guys |

I'm just returning,,,and recovering,,,from two shows we did this past weekend. My good friend Randy Hardin covered our dealer spot at Little Wars 2009 in Chicago, and I came up with some stock rather quickly and covered the new Williamsburg (VA) Muster too. Thanks to all our customers who came out this past weekend. But I really want to respond to a few entries here. Kevin: work continues on Ironclads for miniatures. I'm looking for a good computer program that captures all the grid entries for the ship cards on my creation end, and which will also lend itself to easy printing on Mr. Customer's end with the ability for him/her to create their own 'special ship cards'. If anyone can make some suggestions in that regard it would be welcome and greatly appreciated. (I'm not a computer programmer by any stretch and have only learned recently to update my own web site.) Although I hardly ever announce things that I'm working on I can say that some of the suggestions mentioned above are on my work desk in various stages of building. Please remember that I work alone and do 2 other major product ranges. I do not have the luxury of 5-6 scratchbuilders at my disposal, but in my own defense my kits have always had masts, guns, flags etc
. Mark from Scale Creep: if there is an Ironclads boardgame that is "back out in print" as you suggest, I'd be very interested in learning who is doing it. You may, however, be referring to those offered by Command Decision which is the old Excalbre reprint done years ago. Yes, those copies are still around warts and all and copied from the original Yaquinto printing. If this is what you are referring to it is not a new item back in print. Gosh I only have about 30 of the line. There is enough including the classes that have four or five in class that will keep me busy for some time. I am always excited to walk into the exhibitor hall at Hcon and seeing what is new on his table. It is often one of my first stops. VR James Mattes |

Just a quick update: the reprints Mark from Scale Creep refer to above are the Excaliber reprints done years ago and which Command Decision carries. There is not a new reprint out there. |

For K Smith; Masts for USS Mississippi are very easy as she basically had pole masts with fighting tops. Ref pages 136 & 137 of Tony Gibbons' Warships and Naval Battles of the US Civil War. Alternatively look at page 93 in JOhn Wideman's Naval Warfare: Courage and Combat on the Water. |
