I'm starting to develop some ideas for two rival imagi-nations set in the later half of the 18th century, however I would really like to avoid any unfortunate duplication of country names from other wargamers. Is there a list of the most active or popular imagi-nations out there somewhere? |

Back in the late 70s, I played in a Diplomacy variant called Slobbovia. Countries involved were: Slobbovia Valgoria Rabittania Phumpha Google "Slobbovia". Surprisingly, it comes up near the top. Greg Costikyan is quite fond of it. Beyond the usual "Inner Slobbovia", I contributed "Hither Slobbovia" and "Further Slobbovia" to province names. You can take the standard "Hessen" and "Sachsen" and add minor split-0ff duchies and bishoprics. (I always feel dirty typing "bishopric"

Goldwyrm, While not all member Imagi-Nations have blogs (nor are all of their country names obvious from the blog titles, links to most of the 18th century Imagi-Nations can be found on the right-hand column on "EvE" (Emperor vs Elector) as indicated by KTravlos above. -- Jeff

Not all Imagi-Nations are 'blogged' or 'sited' indeed; nor are they all -for the moment- members of the 'EvE' League of Fictitious Lace Wars Nations. Yet on the Monte-Cristan site the 'Fict' links (classed by the country names in alphabetical order) on the left-hand column lead to such. Note that many cover more than one imaginary country -the 'main' or 'first' one needs its hereditary foe
Some campaigns such as 'Euratia' and 'Pangea' are of continental scale): link From allusion e.g. on the Old_School_wargaming and SOCDAISY Yahoo groups I know of some 100 other names, but unfortunately I did not post the list – permanently evolving (lenthening, happily) as it is. I may check and comment on your proposals if you wish. Waiting for your own countries and blog! Cheers, Jean-Louis

I have seen maps listing all the German duchies and counties around the SYW period. Between Hamburg and Munich, you had hundreds of small pricipalities whose names would serve your purpose. Check the Kronoskaf page under links and you will find some useful maps. link Cheers, Robert 18thcenturysojourn.blogspot.com link |

Thank you for the information and links gentlemen! The Duchy of Hefeweizenbach and the Principality of Fleisch-Spätzlestadt are in consideration as names for two belligerent neighboring states. I should post them on Socdaisy to get some opinion too. Fleisch-Spätzlestadt is in east Fleischen. Staying in theme, I will be modifying the following into a formal map. Fleisch-Spätzlestadt will be likely be cut #10, the loin. picture The above is somewhat similar in shape to today's regions of Hesse and Baden-Württemberg, with Unterfranken from Bavaria added in as the flank #11 and likely location of Hefeweizenbach. |

The Margraviate of Carpania, the Duchy of Courland, and the Duchy of Sachsen-Wachsenstein welcome the Duchy of Hefeweizenbach (by the by, my favorite kind of German beer) and the Principality of Fleisch-Spaetzlestadt (very good eating!) to the league of imagi-nations. With what spheres will each be allied – Germania/Britannia or Gallia/Imperium? Jim link |

Good and pleasant names and cartography! And of course the names are perfectly original. Do you know the 'Emperor vs Elector' collective blog / League of Lace Wars Imagi-Nations emperor-elector.blogspot.com ? Blog, blog, blog! (beer, beer, beer!) Cheers, Jean-Louis |

With what spheres will each be allied – Germania/Britannia or Gallia/Imperium? Excellent question. At this time they are both allied with Germania in the greater war. I'm splitting up the BAR 60fig/battalion Prussian brigades currently being assembled into 24 or 36 fig/battalion Imagi-nation brigades for OGABAS. Despite being allied with Germania, they are however bitter neighbors that can not stomach the existence of the other.. Perhaps an opportunity will present itself for one to be annexed by the other under some pretense.. For a Gallia/Imperium nation I was going to add the Grand Duchy of Erdbeerefelder, but I fear the raising of Austrian style troops for this nation will take forever. @Jean-Louis- Yes, I've been surfing the SYW and Imagi-nation blogs. Good stuff there. I will eventually blog my nations. I first need to get my battalions out of winter quarters and painted. :) |

I have the following in my SYW campaign: Duchy of Saxe-Huack Union of Bittburg Kingdom of Ostenburg My blog which is part of Emperor vs Elector is: saxe-huack.blogspot.com Forgot to mention that the godless peasants of Bittburg might soon find themselves assimilated into Saxe-Huack whether they want to or not! |

Goldwyrm, Rest assured that the names of your Imagi-Nations are NOT amongst any of the member nations of the "Emperor vs Elector" group blog. And, if you are interested in joining "EvE", email me at: bluebear@uniserve.com -- Jeff

Goldwyrm you should really post on this board (X posted on the 'Blogs' board) the links to the two blogs you just launched for your pair of Imagi-Nations! With them I have on my blog now 95 'functional' "Fict" links to blogs at least partly devoted to Lace Wars Imagi-Nation(s), but # 1/3 are not associated to the 'Emperor vs Elector' collectivity. And for sure other people will be interested. Hopefully some other posters here will follow the example -CRITTER 1 for Hibernolesia and New Calolesia, doug redshirt for Caledonia and Swat, malcolmmccallum for Rossanova, jpattern2 for his 'alternate Carribraen', RittervonBek for Hessen Beckstein, cloudcaptain for his 'alternate FIW' and several other who manifested similar intentions here

The two blogs newly created as Jean-Louis indicated are here: link hefeweizenbach.blogspot.com I may start a new topic once I have flags for the above designed and/or a map of the Fleisch and Brötchen-Wurstburg regions derived from the meat cuts template link earlier. The nations are still germinating and the troops haven't mustered from their winter quarters yet. Painting will start in the coming week and an order for reinforcements has been placed. |
