I'm pretty sure there was a company that made a boxed set (perhaps Grenadier) back in the day.

28mmMan03 Feb 2009 7:35 a.m. PST

I second the Heresy Inspectors…easy conversion. In fact I would love to convert them…so many projects but this would take an evening at the most.

Yep Heresy Inspectors…great Stalking the Night Fantastic figs also.

super vike03 Feb 2009 12:44 p.m. PST

Who ya gonna call?

evilcartoonist03 Feb 2009 2:57 p.m. PST

Wow- I never thought about those Heresy figs as Ghostbusters- Those are perfect for conversion; And you have four of them plus Janine! I may have to pick up a pack. Now to find a not-Rick Moranis figure gabbing on about the giant SLOR!

jpattern203 Feb 2009 3:23 p.m. PST

Heresy also does good Zuul "doggies": link

Use a half-nekkid Dark Elf or similar mini for Gozer in human form. Gozer the Gozerian, Gozer the Destructor, Gozer the Traveler!

evilcartoonist06 Feb 2009 6:27 p.m. PST

DANG! I'm gonna have to go back later for some Zuul doggies. I wonder if I have enough Sculpey to make a giant slor?

As a follow up question to Warren's, does anyone know of a 1/43 or 1/48 scale model or diecast car that can be converted to an Ecto-1? Any 1959 (model?) ambulance models or toys out there?

evilcartoonist09 Feb 2009 5:02 p.m. PST

Heresy inspectors have arrived; I've began work building proton packs.

28mmMan10 Feb 2009 9:13 a.m. PST

Mmmmmm looks like a fun project there…can not wait…I will have to, but none the less… :)

jpattern210 Feb 2009 10:55 a.m. PST

Evil, if you ever make a giant Slor, many Shuvs and Zuuls will know what it is to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!

:)

All of the Ecto models and diecasts I've seen have been too large or too small, but there are some ambulance diecasts that you can convert.

There's this appropriately funky 1/43 French SImca Vedette Marly ambulance ($15.00): auction

And this 1/43 Russian Gaz ($14.95): auction

This 1/43 French Citroen may be a little too rounded ($12.5): auction

Lots more on Ebay, just search for "1/43" and "ambulance".

evilcartoonist11 Feb 2009 4:06 p.m. PST

Here's the current progress:

picture

28mmMan12 Feb 2009 7:47 a.m. PST

Damn you….ok ok if you insist, I will see if I have a miniature that would except a proton pack and make one…so hurry hurry…

evilcartoonist12 Feb 2009 11:20 a.m. PST

And built; starting wires and cable; still need to do the guns:

evilcartoonist12 Feb 2009 4:52 p.m. PST

Aaaaaaand DONE! But not painted just yet (gotta let the glue dry)

Warrenss214 Feb 2009 9:43 a.m. PST

D@mn, but those look nice!!!

They might be good at capturing ghosts… but how would they stand against a moaning, shambling hoard of flesh eating zombies?

Warrenss214 Feb 2009 9:57 a.m. PST

Wasn't Ecto-1 created from a hearse instead of an ambulance?

28mmMan14 Feb 2009 10:55 a.m. PST

Fantastic my friend very well done thus far!!

Ecto-1 is a custom "Futura" combination limousine-ambulance by Miller-Meteor, Piqua, OH, based on the 1959 Cadillac commercial chassis.

The 'official' description for ambulances and hearses is 'professional car'. As for the Ghostbusters 'ambulance' being black initially, it is, as MrCadillac stated, a 'combination', which means, the car was used as an ambulance as well as a hearse. This was common practice in rural USA, where it was infeasible to run two cars for these very similar duties. Combinations always are 'Limousine Style', which means they have quarter windows, whereas cars used strictly as hearses usually had 'landau' style blanked off quarters adorned by 'landau irons'. Some combinations had removable landau panels, so you had windows when using it as an ambulance, and landau panels when you used it as a hearse. Please find an in-depth explanation on the subject on my friend's (Ms. Hearse herself) website at hearse.de

Ta daa

Evilcartoonist, those are totally awesome!
Jealousy emerges… :)

Warrenss214 Feb 2009 7:30 p.m. PST

I sure hope you do a follow up post of the painted miniatures, evilcartoonist.

jpattern214 Feb 2009 8:20 p.m. PST

In fact, Evil, you should tweak this just a little when you're done and submit the write-up and photos to Bill as a Workbench article.

Warrenss215 Feb 2009 4:08 a.m. PST

I second the motion!

Warrenss215 Feb 2009 11:28 p.m. PST

It might be a little late in your project, evilcartoonist, but would these help as a painting guide?

Thanks, Warren- I actually have a few of those exact images already saved up:) One painted, three to go! (I'll post a pic sometime today).

evilcartoonist16 Feb 2009 12:12 p.m. PST

First figure is painted!!

Thieses16 Feb 2009 2:55 p.m. PST

Wow, very nice job! I will have to "borrow" your designs for my own games.I found that the NECA Staypuft "head knocker" figure Is a good scale for 28mm figures. He looks mean, and he is not too big on the table. keep us posted with the other paint jobs.

Warrenss216 Feb 2009 3:48 p.m. PST

Fantastic, evilcartoonist… utterly fantastic!!!

Captain Apathy17 Feb 2009 6:18 a.m. PST

HURAH!!! I am glad the Heresy figs worked out for you. They look fan-Bleeped texting-tastic.

Captain Apathy17 Feb 2009 6:22 a.m. PST

evilcartoonist I read through your latest blog post. Would you be willing to share the Ghostbuster rules you wrote up?

jpattern217 Feb 2009 12:21 p.m. PST

Beautiful! Keep the updates coming, Evil.

evilcartoonist17 Feb 2009 4:51 p.m. PST

Unfortunately, the rules are closely based on Tusk (available at Irregular games) so I can't share them. But, honestly, any skirmish-level rules will do. Your "to-hit" rolls essentially become rolls to "hold" the ghost with your particle colliders, then you add an extra roll for someone to successfully activate a trap. PKE meters and ecto goggles can be used to make it easier to hit ghosts or to find them (I have a search element in my game.)

I'm thinking of converting over to Chain Reaction(?) rules, a free PDF over at Two Hour Wargames. I only use Tusk because it has the reaction tables (so I can play solo.) But Chain Reaction also has reaction tables of sorts.

Hexxenhammer17 Feb 2009 10:16 p.m. PST

Those are some of the coolest conversions I've ever seen. Absolutely great.

As far as rules go…

link

Those are the original RPG rules. I've got the 2nd edition box set in my garage somewhere. Super fun. I actually played it quite a bit for awhile when I was in junior high. No minis of course…

soulman18 Feb 2009 3:06 a.m. PST

Usx rules would work well, the "Horror" table would work nice with GB…

evilcartoonist20 Feb 2009 11:38 a.m. PST

All done!

picture

28mmMan20 Feb 2009 4:57 p.m. PST

Damn you…they look quite nice… :)

Warrenss220 Feb 2009 8:09 p.m. PST

OMG – Beautiful!!!!

Superb!
Fantastic!

WOW!!!!!

Hexxenhammer20 Feb 2009 9:27 p.m. PST

There are little ghostbuster symbols on their hats…

I'll be killing myself now.

Warrenss221 Feb 2009 6:54 p.m. PST

Could this possibly be converted into the Ecto-1?

auction

evilcartoonist21 Feb 2009 6:59 p.m. PST

That's a good candidate; I've been thinking that since my Ghostbusters aren't THE Ghostbusters, then the Ecto-1 doesn't have to be THE Ecto-1. So I'll look around at different ambulances and hearses to be Ecto-"2".

Hexxenhammer21 Feb 2009 7:48 p.m. PST

I'm sure Venkman is savoring your Ghostbusters franchise fees.

Warrenss222 Feb 2009 4:52 a.m. PST

"I'm sure Venkman is savoring your Ghostbusters franchise fees."

LOLOLOL!!!

I'm sure Venkman is CALCULATING your Ghostbusters franchise fees!

;-)

Captain Apathy22 Feb 2009 3:51 p.m. PST

Dude, those are Great!

religon22 Feb 2009 6:41 p.m. PST

Need a nifty little conversion?
Who ya gonna call?

evilcartoonist.

Mad props.

evilcartoonist22 Feb 2009 7:54 p.m. PST

I just picked up Doom the boardgame- it looks ripe for conversion to a Ghostbusters game. (or Space Hulk or Aliens …)

jpattern223 Feb 2009 9:44 a.m. PST

Applause, applause. Very, very nice work.
