Hi guys,

The first of my Crusades armies is finished (save baggage stands which I'll do last). I've lined them all up on parade for final inspection – I think they pass muster. I've taken plenty of pictures of them and put them here for you to judge.

I only have five more units of cavalry to do to finish my Saracens and Armenians (the bulk of the collection). So they will be inspected in the very near future.

really nice looking stuff there, congratz – i like my figures on diaoramic bases like these – what base sizes are they and what rules were u looking at using?

olicana30 Jan 2009 5:52 a.m. PST

Base sizes are 60mm x 60mm for foot, 60mm x 90mm for cavalry.

I'll be using Ager Sanguinis (as published in Miniature Wargames #309) – because I wrote them (to suit myself).

Wow, my first army was 350 15mm Crusaders done around 1990.
The paint jobs were horrible.

Yours are truly magnificent. Yours look the way I always wanted mine to look. (..or how I always saw them through my sentimental eyes grin ) Especially the use of Hospitallers instead of the typical Templars.

Great stuff.

Where do people find the time to do projects like these? Thats a really lovely collection. It would take me all year to paint a 10th of that lot. well done great stuff.

Wow. I really like those Hospitallers.

Not only is the painting superb, but I really like the look of the basing. It is far more aesthetic (& maybe more realistic?) than the normal ranking up, one-behind-the-other. Dang it, will I need to re-base all of my armies?!

Atheling31 Jan 2009 11:47 a.m. PST

Are the mini's a variation on the basing for Shattered Lance?

They look fantastic. I'm often to be found checking out your blog. All brilliant stuff.

Cheers,

Darrell.
