Pendraken makes four figures specifically labeled as TYW, I was wondering if anyone could comment on how they would compare with GFI/Minifigs 12mm range. I have found some Pendraken sculps to be on the large size and they match well with GFI. And as long as we're at it how do Pendraken's ECW figures stack up against the GFI, I dont mind a little difference but some Pendrakens look like GFI's little brothers. Thanks in advance.

I don't have any TYW figures from either Pendraken or Minifigs. But I do have quite a few Pendraken WSS figures -- and lots of WWII figures from both manufacturers.

The Pendraken WSS figures are similar in height to Pendraken WWII and probably slightly slimmer in build.

I find that MFs WWII are about the same height as Pendraken WWII, but much slimmer.

The bottom photo on this page kerynne.com/games/wss.html shows some Minifigs DAK on the left with Pendraken WSS on the right.

Some of the Pendraken medieval figures I have are quite small.

Not a direct answer I know, but hopefully of some help.

LtJBSz (there must be a story there…:)

I have all of the Pendraken TYW figures and most of his ECW figures, and they all appear to be consistant in size across both ranges-BTW, the Pendraken Pistoleer w/ burgonet etc. is a gem; one of the nicest pre-Clibenarium 10mm figures I've ever seen-I've bought bunches to use for ECW.

I also have quite a cross-section of the GFI ECW figures because I, also, intended to use both ranges to get a greater variety of figures. Although you didn't mention them, I also have quite a few of the Old Glory 10mm ECW figures for the same reason.

So, im my opinion, and I freely acknowledge that this is a matter of opinion on which reasonable men can differ, the Old Glory and Pendraken mix well together-although I don't much care for the Old Glory strip figures or most of the Pendraken Cavalry (with the exception of the Pistoleer), so I use mostly Old Glory Cavalry and Pendraken infantry. I also think that the Pendraken ECW cavalry horses are a bit small, and so the troopers, when placed next to Old Glory or GFI cavalry, look like they are riding ponies. This size limitation for Pendraken cavalry seems to be limited to his ECW cavalry, the TYW cavalry appear to be roughly the same size as the Old Glory and GFI cavalry-and, again, the Pistoleer is a little gem.

As to GFI; the cavalry mix ok with Old Glory, and not with Pendraken as noted above. But the GFI infantry (Again, in my opinion) are simply too big to mix well with either the Pendraken or Old Glory infantry. I also think the GFI figures look a bit too static, but that's a different issue entirely.

For what it's worth, if you decide to go with GFI infantry, I have bunches of GFI ECW musketeers that I'd be happy to swap or sell cheap.

LtJBSz,
I have all of the Minifig/AIM english civil war range and Pendraken's as well. I'm afraid that this is one of those bad situations where these two companies do not match up.
Pendraken infantry is quite small for 10mm. Some gamers have argued that they are really 9mm or maybe 8.5mm. They look humorous next to AIM's 12mm figures. You can not mix them together in a unit. The Pendraken cav riders look good, however, as Dennis has said the horses look like your cuirassier regiments are mounted on shetland ponies.
